1998 Chev Blazer - hesitates, sometimes backfires, initial take-o

1998 Chev Blazer - hesitates, sometimes backfires, after start up and initial take-off. after you get through the initial take-off/ hesitation, it runs great and idles smooth. I've been completely through the whole electric and mechanical for the past 16 months. It throws a O2 sensor, but i don't believe it. I went to the junk yard and replace both O2 sensors. The Catalytic converter is still partially disconnected - thought it might be plugged. Just a guess, but it acts like it doesn't clear the gasses when shutdown. Therefore, the air is bad when start up. The air gets cleared when it run for a few minutes and everything is okay.

I replaced the fuel injector rail. BUT, my son which is a great mechanic had a little too much to drink when we were putting them in. So he pinched the two back ones... I replaced those. I'm still not ruling out they are still not working right. In my personal opinion, what a piece of junk! I have a 90 buick century I restored and those are REAL fuel rails/injectors. So cool, you can put a screwdriver up to one and listen to the injector open and close. Yea, i'm from the old school. But, I am a computer analyst and understand the computer stuff. It might be a bad computer. I can pick one up at the u-pull-it for $25. I was kinda working around it. Got the ODBII software and it keeps throwing O2 sensor. I really don't believe it, but for peace of mind i pulled a couple at the u-pull-it - S10 pickup same setup. I pulled the heads and had them redone. It runs great... It doesn't run hot. Did the plugs, wires, distributor/rotor cap. Looked at the distributer, but it was not broke/warped. replace the cam shaft sensor. Get this one problem solved and we will be good to go. I need to service the transmission. On and on and on... Anyway thxs for your input. OH, i did replace the fuel filter. It was missing at high output. I like the WIX brand. A little higher but a better product than Fram, etc...

Yea i was working around that one. I can pick-up a computer at U-Pull-It for $25. I might as well try it. Haven't re-program a car computer before? What is the process?

A leaking injector can do that, and will clear just as you outlined...but you probably checked that already...

Ok it would be good that you would make a diagnosis in AutoZone make them free, according to what you say may have trouble in the coolant sensor or the MAF sensor but I recommend first a scaner. Thanks

Listen for a click from under the steering column when you turn the key on. If you hear no electrical click then your ignition switch could be bad. If you hear an electrical click the you starter soleniod is bad.

This sounds like a PCM overheating. I would have the truck looked at with a professional shop. I don't recommend a website diagnostic on this one or home repair either. This problem could become expensive proceed with caution if you choose to do this at home. Some part stores can program PCM's but please get a professional diagnois
