If you haven't had the valves adjusted it is more than likely the valve clearance is a little more than what it was from the factor which is normal after 50,000 or more miles.

I would use a 2 core rad if the car has a 8 cylinder engine but a smaller v8 can get away with using a single core

My 2002 grand prix goes from cold to hot when first started, then goes to normal. Now it ticks loudly at first then goes away. Could it be the thermostat?

Could be.
If the engine goes to hot say 5 minutes after starting then back to normal, the thermostat could be slow to open, or you could have air pockets in the cooling system.
The ticking is lack of oil or oil pressure, or a worn out bearing or lifter inside the engine.

The left of the engine has a small light ticking sound. The Technicians states that it is the characteristics in the motor. I want to know if in fact is this is true?

I.m having to guess which motor 3.3 or 3.0 but left or motor leaves out the 4 cyclinder. The ticking sound can be checked and there a some noises that are normal but their not very loud. You can change the oil and filter and right as it starts does it somewhat louder and then almost go away? Then is the engine warms up you get to hear it better? Does the sound go right along with engine speed? Can you run the engine breiftly with the fan belt removed and the sound is the same? If the sounds doesn't change with engine speed it might not matter if it changes as the engine heats up you might be able to change the kind of oil or the wheight and it'll be quieter or gone. If the sound is steady and goes along with engine speed and as the engine goes faster( reved up) and it doesn't get louder or goes away then your adviser might be right that it's a sound that they all make. To test this find someone with a car like yours and listen to it. Used car dealers and new car dealers may have a car just like yours and ask to road test the car if you like it you might trade cars.

My 2003 toyota sequoia temp goes up when outside temp is very hot.Mya.c will shut off then kick back on and repeat. After about 4 min the temp gauge goes up and heater kicks on .What could be causing this?

if both fans are working normally... you need to check radiators (both engine and A/C: start with the big one.. could be dirty blocking flow of coolant!)
good luck

When to replace timing belt

Recommended timing belt replacement.
90,000 miles
Note : This engine is an interference engine, which will cause major engine damage if belt is to break. Also good idea to replace water pump.

I have a 2003 Sequoia it makes a knocking sound when I first crank it up. It goes away after about a minute . What could this be.

Probably more of a tapping/ticking sound, ours does it too. The mechanic said it is fairly common on Toyota's and it is the lifters. The fill up with oil after a little bit and stop ticking. Knocking sound is a lot louder and usually comes from a spun rod bearing or something a lot worse. Have it checked out anyway I say.
