Question about 1996 Mitsubishi Galant
Is this the part number mr578505 or the housing number. the other number on the box is e6t35479 Hoozc 2104 204. what I need to know if I replace the ecu must I also replace the Relay located in the main fuse box. Car is Mitzibishi Galant 2002, ES 2.4 L
No only if it is defective or you know that you had a short, it is common for a shop to replace both but only after testing to see if there is more than .2 ohms resistance on any of the two prongs on the relay or from the computer to ground.

Remove the battery cover to access the battery terminals. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable with the pliers.
Open the glove box door and squeeze the outer part to remove the door. Locate the two screws behind the door to remove the glove box.
Access the ECU behind the glove box. Remove the electrical connectors by hand; remove the bolts mounting the ECU to the inner dash.
Install the new ECU in the same position. Replace the bolts and reconnect the electrical connectors.
Replace the glove box and the glove box door. Reconnect your battery.
