2001 Suburbans generally have two belts. The primary drive belt and the A/C compressor belt. You must first remove the primary drive belt before removing the A/C belt. They are both kept in place with a tensioner. A standard 3/8 rachet will help give you the leverage to disengage the tensioner and remove the belt. Replace in reverse order.
There should be a belt tensioner in line with the belt, take a wrench or rachet and pull on it till the belt is loose enough to take off let tensioner go slowly then pull tensioner the same direction as you did to take old belt off slip the new belt on how it goes bye the diagram make sure belt is on all the pullies good start vehicle and make sure belt is working properly then shut the hood you are done make sure there is a diagram of how the belt is routed before you take off the old belt, usually the diagram is like on the metal or plastic piece in front of the radiator if not there usually there is diagram on the under side of the hood.If you can't find a diagram anywhere draw one up or look in your book there might be one.
