i had the same problem on my car. it was the idle air control motor (stepper motor) it helps control the amount of air flow. when it goes bad it sticks making the idle go up and down. its an easy fix.you will bolted to the intake manifold . it took me 10 min and 1 wrench
could be numerous reasons. this is your best bet take it in to a mechanic and have your engine codes scanned. it is a minimal charge, some even do it for nothing it only takes 10 minutes.this will point you in the right direction.
The idle air control valve is what regulates incoming air when the engine is idling. In some cases these can malfunction and cause intermittent issues with stalling at idel until the IAC dies altogether.
Had same problem on 93 LS400, timing was off one tooth on left camshaft gear. Replaced belt and reset and no more problems. (Spent 1200.00 on repairs I did'nt need)
I took mine in to change the plugs and they said there are four O2 sensors in the fuel mixture system and two were bad. I didn't replace them since they were a little pricey ($500 to replace both) and I have 103,000 on the car. Has very similar roughness and occasional oscillations, but no stalling. Hope this helps.
thanks i will try that
