There is not a separate fuse. The tag light is powered off of the tail lights. If you have tail lights but no tag lights your problem is either bad tag light bulbs or the connections between the tail lights and the chassis ground at the tag light bulb sockets.

SOURCE: 1988 chevy silverado fuse box

I hope this helps a little, you said the fuse box panel is gone....so how do you know some fuses are missing?

I just bought a 1988 silverado also, the wipers ,power windows and windshield washer fluid only work "when they want to" I think I have a bad ground somewhere.

SOURCE: Broken Chevy 88 Silverado shift indicator. Need Diagram.

The neddle is attached to the column via a thin metal wire and spring which then clips to the edge. Remove the trim above the column and look for the clip attached to the wire and a warn spot on the column and reattach it. :)

SOURCE: 88 CHEVY PICKUP SILVERADO STOPS RUNNING IS JUST WARM

Sounds like a bad ignition coil. Check for spark right after it quits Coils can and do quit working after they get hot. Also check magnetic pick up coil in distributor. After reaching operating temp computer will move the coil and a broke corroded wire loses connection. Then when engine back to cold wire is back in contact and working. Hope this helped.

I have a 1992 chevy Silverado and wipers dont turn on at all what can I do

My database doesn't say Silverado, look at 92 chevy c1500 5.0L engine.
Check the fuse, not only check the fuse use a test light and check for voltage at fuse circuit. The circuit goes hot with the key on.

88 chevy c1500 headlights don't work. All fuses and bulbs are good, everything else including parking lights work. Could there be a fuse under the hood?

get a test light and see if you have power at the bulb plug, yes there is a fuse for lights ....find it and check it... I had 3 chevy/gmc trucks and they all had two fuse boxes one under dash one over drivers front fender well... check for power at fuse/relay (pull the fuse out connect your test light to a ground - one side of the fuse socket should have power (with light switch on) if it doent it is probably the switch at the dash...

Those values and most everything else you need for DIY work are contained in the Haynes manual for your vehicle. We have one with each of our vehicles and not only give you the info needed to do repairs yourself but also get an idea of how much work a specific repair should (or shouldn't) cost.

You can also buy these from auto parts stores for a few dollars less and sometimes on eBay for even less.
