Could be in the keyswitch or a bad starter. You tested the battery and it tested fine? The parts stores have a special tester to test batteries and they will do it for free. If you engage the starter while they test the battery most the meters can test your starter at the same time.

My problem is is that i took the battery out because to make a long story short the car was over heating, took battery out and i put battery back in and now it wont start or even turn over

If all you did was remove the battery and replaced it because the engine was overheating assuming the engine was running and your starter showed no prior sign of problem, it is obvious you have a connection problem with the battery. I would recommend taking the battery to a local parts store and get it checked first in eliminating a battery malfunction. If the battery checks out okay you should check your terminals for corrosion. Some time a battery will internally short out and give up the Ghost without notice. Make sure connections are free from film buildup both battery post and connectors inside. Tighten them and that should resolve the connection problem. Other suspect is a related fuse blown. Remove the fuse box cover and check all related fuses for a burned spot behind the clear plastic.

Remote start just stopped working - I changed the battery and still nothing!

I would either check the remote batteries or the wiring harness that is in the car.

These harnesses are very elaborate and should only be fixed by a qualified person.

The wires (during install) are sometimes left bare and the salt, etc from the roads eat away at them.

This can cause a short and it can stop working. Also, check your fuse box because sometimes installers splice into the fuse box for power to the control mod (remote starter IC)..if a wire is loose in the fuse box you can say that was the problem.

Car does not want to start, when it does it is very sluggish. Once you do get it to start, after having to charge the battery sometimes, it will idle very irratic and then smooth out once it has apperently...

Check ALL of your fuses. The flat fuses, the square block fuses under the hood. The alternator block fuse is most likely the one that is blown and causing the problem. Some Mitsubishi cars have the alternator fuse built into the positive battery clamp. It is easy to short the block fuses and most people and some mechanics do not even think to check them. That is why you always unhook the negative battery cable when working on the car. With any luck a $2 fuse will get you started again. Also if your battery is not putting out 12 volts , that can cause all kinds of issues around the car. Go to the auto store and purchase an squeeze ball/eye dropper style battery tester with the floating balls and test the cells of your battery to see if they are all good.

My 2000 ford contour se would not start....put a new battery but still.....

does the red light near the clock flash . This is the anti theft system. Mine sometimes wont start if this light is on or flashing. I sometimes turn the key over to the other side and it starts.. You may have an issue with the anti theft system an or your key may need re-programming. If this is not the problem than there may be ignition issues. Check the fuse panel under the hood for a bad relay or blown fuse. The panel is beside battery. The other fuse panel is under the steering wheel check it also for bad fuses. You can test the fuses with a multimeter set on continuity or resistance..

Peugeot 307 sw ignition switch fuse keeps popping????sometimes the car will start and work normally but other times the dash lights illuminate but nothing works and the car wont start. replace the ignition...

there are three likely problems.... check the battery of the vehicle if the battery is still ok, or the alternator is not supplying the right power and finally the fuse box has some burnt part in it internally...
