Well, 'W" is for winter drive, "S" for sport drive and "E" for economy drive.

You can download Owners Manual for Volvo S90 1997 in PDF-format
through this link for free.
Look about halfway down on the page where you will find a window for downloading. You will only have to fill in the security code given to you in the same window. You are also anonomous doing this.

Why won't my 2002 Volvo s80 shift out of park?

All vehicles have a safety feature that won't allow a vehicle to be shifted into gear without the drivers foot being on the brake pedal . Shifter interlock system . There is a electrically controlled solenoid that locks the shifter ,when you step on the brake pedal an electrical signal un locks the shifter ,allowing the gear selector to move.

What does the yellow arrow flashing on the dash mean on a 98 s90 volvo

That generally means the transmission, and most likely the PNP switch are malfunctioning.

You can typically limp it along by pushing the button on the shifter and moving it from "1" to "P" back and forth a few times in rapid succession, but ultimately you need to replace the PNP switch.

The OEM switch is about $170 and the aftermarket part is about $70. For this sort of thing, I'd use the more expensive factory part.

They're available at FCPGroton, IPDUSA and eEuroparts and other places.

2006 bmw 325i won't start shows steering wheel with lock on it on display. slow to start yesterday. lights, radio work. tried charging battery without any luck

f this is a floor shifter or center console shifter there is actually a lock release next to the shifter. Look next to the shifter handle and you should see a small square plug in the console remove the plug and you will see a little white button in it this is the shifter release push it and you can move the shifter.

Volvo s70 t5 key stuck inignition, how can i get it out?

Try tapping forward on the shifter while it is in park. If this works, spray some lubricant into the shifter release button on the front of the shifter. If not, you may have a problem with the ignition lock, and it will have to be replaced.

I have a 1993 Volvo 240, the shifter is loose, I

i have owned several 240's (i drive a 1990 245 at the moment) and have had this problem in the past. it is not a bolt that you have to replace, it is the shifter-link bushings and the c-clip on the bottom of the shifter-link. if you jack your car up and place the jack stands at the front jack points so you can scout underneath the car. at the front end of the transmission (where the O.D. selanoid wire comes out of the body) is the shifterlink and in the shifter-link should be 3 holes (there should be 3 bushings in there and a c-clip keeping it all together), replace the c-clip and bushings and i promise that your shifter will be VERY TIGHT. good luck :)

VOLVO s90 1997 clicking noise from wheel area

If it happens only on turns then its the outer axle cv joint.. If it happens all the time probably something stuck in a tire. Either way have the suspension visually inspected by a technician as soon as possible.

I would recommend changing the fluid in the transmission one or two times, and then re-evaluating its performance.

1997 Volvo S90 will not turn over, electrical power but no click

I can almost guarantee you that the gear position sensor is bad. I've replace 30 or 40 of these on 960's for these very same complaints! If you check the codes for the transmission, it will give a 3-1-3 or P0705 code. You will however need a code reader to check this on a 1997 model.
