Question about 1993 GMC Suburban

93 GMC Suburban Wont Turn Over

My 93 Suburban wont do anything when I turn the key. Everything was fine and I backed into the driveway to take off the trailor and when I tried to start it to pull forward nothing happened. I had the battery tested and it is fully charged. I also replaced the starter and solenoid because there looked liked a hole in the solenoid.
The radio, lights, and all power comes on, but when I turn the key...nothing!
Can anyone please help?

Thank you, I tried that, and still nothing...
This is so frustrating. I haven't had any problems before this and it seems out of the blue.
    Thanks for trying!

Okay, sorry...this is where it gets complicated for me. Which posts exactly? Cross the positive battery post with the post on the solenoid? There is currently a wire connecting those two parts, the positive battery terminal and the bigger terminal on the solenoid. should I check that wire as well? Thanks again!

Okay, I got it figured out..apparently I had a bad ground wire to the block. I have no idea how/when this could have happened, but its the problem. Thank you so much for all your advice!

I may not be all the way in park or the safety neutral switch in not working. Did you try and start it in Neutral? Also move your shifter around while the key is engauged and see if it will start.

It could be in your key-switch as well. Or still could be safety neutral switch. I would turn the switch on and set the park break on and and go under the vehicle where the starter is and cross the posts on the solenoid and positive and see if it starts. I bet it will start.

Just take a screwdriver and cross the small post on the starter with the bigger post on the starter. You will have a little spark and hear the starter engage.

Maybe your door switch button has broken off. Sometimes I bump my dash light dimmer wheel (which also turns on my dome light) and it stays on in my 93 Chevy pickup

93 suburban..have had problems for a few months where the car wouldnt turn over.. then 30 mins later would start with no problem. The battery is good.

Your starter is Likely going bad, First check your battery connections and starter connections. When your checking starter connections, make sure you disconnect your negative terminal to avoid shorting the battery. If all of your connections are good(you must physically put a wrench on them and ensure that they are tight, removing and cleaning the connection would also be a good idea) then the starter itself is going bad. What is happening is that either the solenoid is going out, in which case you probably wont hear anything when you turn the key, or the starter moter itself is going bad, in which case you will probably hear a loud click when you turn the key, which typically means that the solenoid is engaging the starter, but the starter wont turn. The old school way to get it going was to hit it with something(like a hammer) Make sure that it is the starter your hitting. Usually after a couple good wacks, it will start working, however it is not always the case. If you get it started, autozone will test it for free. A rebuilt starter for your car is probably about a hundred bucks and you can do the work your self with little mechanical knowledge and a couple wrenches. Just be careful removing the starter motor, it is kinda heavy.

It sounds like you have a security problem, I had the same thing it would fire and run for half of a second and then that was it if anything at all. Had the security system rebooted, now it starts and runs fine.

Check the trailer plug ground first. If in doubt. Ground in another location. Make sure the area is free of rust and the ground is tight.
