thanks for the post. and i did try all your suggestions but not success. i think something between the brakes and the stick is not working. there must be a relation between the brakes and the mechanism who release the stick ,that's where the problem is

Its your brake switch small plastic piece of **** that controls your shift and brake. I had this same problem 9 months ago now its starting again the part runs about 15 bucks easy to fix.

I agree with Solution #2. Brakelight switch. It also solved the problem for me.

Hey, i have a 05 aveo... i had these same problems with mine... the brake lights wouldnt work and the shifter wouldnt come out of park unless i changed the fuse after fuse after fuse... but just so happen the right brake light went out on the rear of the car and i went to change it and the soilder melted out of the light bulb base and got down on the contacts in the socket and was blowing fuses... so i would advise you to check both brake lights on your car... mine has been fixed for several months and doing well.... hope this helps

1) Make sure you're pressing the brake when you try to remove it from park...

2) If you're parked on a hill and didnt use the park brake, it will cause the transmission to get stuck in the park gear, you'll have to push the car uphill slightly to release the pressure and then depress the park brake with the pressure released. Then you'll be able to put the car in gear, and press the brake while you release the park brake.

The RHS rear door is locked closed with c/locking lever in closed position.

general reply because car maker not given

door lock actuator or switch failed
or child lock has hard locked the door

the fix
open other side door
remove the rear seats top and lower pads
from there you can undo most door cards when a door is closed

with the door card removed

you can physically unlock and open the door

only cut the door card away in desperation
if you have another door card from a wreckers yard
with same trim and color to fit back onto the door

Aveo door lock

Hi All
I really appreciate all the solutions that have been posted. The only concern that I have is that none of the solutions are referring to the 1987 Chrysler Fifth Ave. There is everything from Chev,GMC,Toyota and Honda. Does anyone have a solution for my Fifth Ave? Thanks Tony

My door want open from the inside or outside

This sounds like theres a problem with the latch or the linkage. the first thing would be to get the door open but lets hold off on that for now.
Use the key and t ry to lock and unlock the door and see if you can, then try to lock and unlock the door using the button, let me know if it can lock and unlock. this test is to see if maybe the lock actuator is frozen. a frozen actuator will not allow you to unlock the door from inside or with a key but if you can lock and unlock then there maybe another problem. take note as you move the lock button make sure it moves up and down all the way or if it fells tight, if irs fine then the next step is to try and get the door open or remove the door panel to get inside the door. this may be hard but can be done.
try pushing on door and pulling on handle to try and open door. Another trick is to try and hold lock button in unlock postion and hold with a little force while pulling on handle to open the door.

Passenger door will not open

I can think of two possibilities:

1) The electronic lock is malfunctioning and forcing the door to lock. From the inside of the car, try forcing the lock to the 'unlocked' position. If you can do this with your had, but it 'snaps' back to 'locked' then it's an electrical problem. Possibly the lock solenoid itself, or the BCM.

2) If you cannot force the lock to the 'unlocked' position, then it's some sort of mechanical problem - maybe the lock is just jammed. Try spraying oil into the locking mechanism from the outside and working the lock until it's free. Otherwise, remove the interior door panel and diagnose the mechanical lock.

04 Chevy Aveo Lock

I just fixed my 2005 Aveo door lock. like so many it fell in to the inside and was hitting the window rod and locking. The fix was not to bad, I removed the 3 screws on the bottom door panel, one in the center of door pull and the one behind the arm pull. Then the door panel can be pulled out and up to unhook it from the window seam. I did not un hook the linkage from the door handel, I just slid panel down and let it hang to the side. Then peel the water film back so you can reach in and get the key lock back in to the hole. I found that my lock had rotated down and needed to be rotated back so the screw arm lines back up with the screw hole. I found a replacement screw in my screw tin that worked, tested it and it worked fine. Just revers the door panel removal proceduer making shur that the two hooks on back of the door handel cup is hooked into the two slots on door frame ot it will stick out and you will not be able to put the one screw in, dun deal.

Hope this helps
