There is a fuel pressure regulator under the intake manifold & it has plastic tubes called spyders going to each cylinder & on the ends are poppet valves
You will need to pull the rear end cover off, make sure you have a drain pan ready. when you rotaye a rear tire the ring gear will turn, look for a bolt head on the spider gear housing pull out that bolt/pin and then push axle all the way in there will be a c clip on the end of the axle pull that out and remove the axle.Be carefull not to let the spider gears fall out you can put them back but can be a pain.. Hope this helps
Check the oil, smell the oil,to see if there is a gas smell to it,if so,the injector spider, has a broken injector line. The intake will have to be removed to replace the injector.
You will have to remove the rear end plate off of the back of the rear end. Then turn the carrier untill you see a big silver pin that goes through the spider gears. Those will be 4 small gears in the rear end carrier. If you look at the right side of the carrier were the pin goes through it you will see a small bolt head, That bolt goes through the carrier and holds the pin in place. Remove that bolt then reach up in the rear end housing and push the pin towards you untill it comes out. ( DO NOT TURN ANYTHING AFTER YOU REMOVE THE PIN) are the spider gears will fall out.
Now get someone to push the axel in while you are looking at the 4 small gears in the housing, when they push the axel in a C-clip will fall off the end of the axel and into the rear end, You will see it fall out. Then just pull the axel out.
When you put the axel back in, push it all the way in then slide the c-clip over the end of the axel and then pull out on axel and that will hold the clip in place untill you put the big long pin back in the carrier. I hope you understand, just watch what you are doing. GOOD LUCK.
Titans are known for weak rear ends. Contact an independent shop that rebuilds truck transmissions; look in the Yellow Pages.have them rebuild it; it'll be done right. Trade the truck for a Toyota Tundra, Tacoma, Ford or Chevy.
This fuel pressure regulator is a component part of the SFI (sequential fuel injection) assembly, sometimes referred to as "spider". It resides inside of the air intake plenum and is accessed by removing the upper half of the intake. Good luck and hope this helps. Most of the time when your having problems, it's most likely going to be the whole spider unit. GM has been know to have problems with this type of fuel injection system. Check the vacum line to the fuel pressure regulator at the back of the spider housing by the high pressure fuel line. You can see it just in front of the distributor cap and spider assembly.
