Check other components of your ignition system (ign. coil, igniter unit, cables). Check also your ignition timing. If ignition system is ok, check if your pump is delivering the right pressure. You may want also to check if you have manifold leaks.

I bought a used 1995 for escort. it has a miss an is getting worse. i changed the spark plugs. i took the spark plug wires off one at a time. 3 of them made the miss worse and 1 did nothing. it's

Not without more testing.
It could be a fuel problem or something mechanical like a valve.
You would do a compression test next to verify all 4 cylinders have normal compression.
If they do, and that 4th plug wire was providing spark to the plug, I would expect you to find something going on with the injector.

P0305 cylinder misfire in 96 chevy z71 k1500 5.7 vortec

i would not spend the money on heads w/out diagnosing # 5 misfire. misfire is caused by many different things. i would first start by verifying in fact #5 is at fault. start engine, with it running and using well insulated plyers, pull each wire off dist. cap one at a time. you will notice the engine missing worse each one you pull until you reach the one causing the miss. this wire, when pulled, will not change the evident missing cylinder. if it is #5, check spark, at spark plug end. stick a small screwdriver or equivilent in the removed boot, and place it a cm away from a ground source. start engine. observe spark. should be nice and blue, and ark a good inch from ground. if no spark, swap a wire and check again. if still no spark replace cap and rotor. if their is spark, make check plug. even though new, its easy to crack porcilan installing it. try another plug. if still a miss, start engine with plug removed, breifly, and compression should be evident. strong popping noise of compressed air. a compression gauge is the proper test ( 4 strokes 125 psi) but if audible compression is heard without a doubt, more than likely fine. w spark and compression seeming ok, next is possible fuel, (injector) or intake leak, leaning ouy cylinder. try this and let me know. missing would show itself at low engine speeds.bad starting.or heavy load (going up steep hills)a miss at high speed would not be felt (normally)without other symptoms(lack of power etc)have you tried using higher octane fuel......mazda rec 92+ octane...

2001 chevy silverado 1500 4.3 v6. new fuel pump, new cats, plugs wires roater and distributer cap. shuts off after driving for a little bit gives no sign or warning. cant figure it out help please!!!

Start off by taking a spark plug out when it shuts down. If it is dry and a light tannish color, then you have a gas problem. If it is wet and dark colored, then you have a spark problem. Let me know what you find out.
