My husband has a 2006 Kia Rio that he bought used from a car lot. He's had it for two years and the past month it has started jerking, getting horrible gas mileage, not shifting correctly and this morning...

could be the mass air flow easy way to check find it remove the clip from the pig tail then pull off the pig tail if the car runs a little better thats the problem,it will not run alot better only a little.
you should have gotten a check engine light on the dash.
check to see if the light works ,simple turn on the car but dont engage the starter.all the light should be on including the check engine .if not it was probley disconected to hide a problem, take it to an auto parts store and ask them to check your code if your light is on or doesnt work at all. its free auto zone advanced auto etc.ask them for the code and a list of possible solution to the code

I wanted to know how much would it be for 2003 KIA RIO TIMING BELT

It depends on which engine you have, but it seems that the belt itself is about $30 from Rockauto.com. I would recommend getting the timing kit as well, which is an extra $70 and that includes all new pulleys which keep the belt tight. This is very important in an interference engine like yours. Which means if the timing belt snaps while the engine is running you will damage the engine and can get very expensive. The kit is cheap insurance. Also, you need the belt on top of that as it is not included in the kit. So expect to pay about $100 if you go for both.
