Question about 1987 Nissan Pickup
Check the small rubber nipple on the brake light switch that is located at the top of the brake pedal under the dash. This rubber nipple can break off and will not allow the switch to make contact with the pedal arm. I replaced mine with a small bolt with 2 nuts to lock it in position. Adjust the bolt so it just makes contact with the switch when the pedal is not depressed.
