Question about 2003 Suzuki Aerio

Cannot turn key in 2003 suzuki aerio.Tried turning steering wheel, jiggling key, using another key. Automatic transmission will not shift out of parkbut tried jiggling it as well. Wife parked at a friends house and when she came out, could not get the key to turn. Key inserts all the way and makes a warning sound that the key is in the ignition. Is this most likely the sensor that tells the ignition it is not in park?

Had a locksmith repair pins 7 and 4 for 150$. He said that these lock cylinders (used by both suzuki and toyota) damage at these specific pins all the time. Oh well, better than a 300$ replacement.

1999 Volvo S40 cannot remove key

What make vehicle ? Most all vehicles have a safety system .Don't try an force anything you'll break it !
Electronic Park Lock (EPL)/Ignition Lock Cylinder Control Actuator: If the vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission and a floor mounted console gear shift, it has an ignition lock cylinder control actuator system in the steering column. The ignition lock cylinder control actuator purpose is to prevent the ignition key from being turned to the OFF position when the transmission is in any position other than PARK and the vehicle may still be moving. The column ignition lock system consists of an ignition lock cylinder control actuator, and a park position switch that is located in the automatic transmission shift lock control switch. The ignition lock cylinder control actuator contains a pin that is spring loaded to mechanically prevent the ignition key cylinder from being turned to the lock position when the vehicle transmission is not in the PARK position. If vehicle power is lost, and/or the transmission is not in the PARK position the operator will not be able to turn the ignition key to the lock position and will not be able to remove the ignition key from the column. They also have this on column mounted shifters !

2004 dodge ram key wont turn tried the hammer trick does not work how can I remove the cylinder without the key turning

Hi Richard:
Before resorting to too much force, try turning the steering wheel. One way will be really stiff, the other not so bad. Gently wiggle the key as you apply pressure to move the steering wheel.
If it's an automatic, it also won't hurt to jiggle the shift lever.
Patience.... you'll get it.

How can I remove my ignition key from my 2005 Suzuki Forenza?

2014 showing as 2016, unanswered,
the cure, answer it and its gone

Page 2-12 in your operators guide states;

"LOCK:
This position locks your steering wheel,
ignition, automatic transmission shift lever
and automatic transmission. This is the
only position from which you can remove
the key. For easier key operation when
unlocking the steering wheel, move the
steering wheel back and forth while turning
the key to the ACC position."

this means if car has wheels (tires) againsta curb or large rock
that means, wiggle the steering wheel and turn the key to lock
then it can do that.
in some cases it can be near impossible
like in San Fransisco, on a very very very steep hill.
the manual tells you set the hand brake first.
or you many not get the transmission out of park or steering lock failure. do to these forces at bay.

next time tell poster where your tires are.
we cant guess, that. and MATTERS.

Hi, Just spray some DW40 in the ignition switch. Then put the key in and turn and wiggle it. If you have steering lock work it some more till it does.
Good luck.
