Check small fuses first, most of the time I find bad ground connections on the tail lights. Remove a tail light cover and ground the side of the bulb with a wire to see if it will come on.

How do I disconnect the park on the 2006 Ford Fusion when the brake lights not working, I know the brake lights must work for me to get the car out of park and that there is a button beside the gear s

i would advise checking the brake light switch , this is located at the top of the brake pedal, disconnect the wire and turn the switchclockwise one full turn , reconnect the wire and check the lights , you may have to repeat this a few times until the adjustment is just right , very uncommon for both brake lights to go at same time , hope this helps you

By any chance did you find urethane button parts on the drivers floor mat?

Look under the dash at the brake pedal lever just below the pivot point for a small plate with a hole in it. Normally the hole has a white/yellow urethane (rubber) button in it that makes contact with the brake light switch turning the brake lights off. If this button is missing the brake lights will stay on all the time and run your battery down. If your brake lights have been on steady all this time they could burn out too. The bad part is that no one knows when you are braking and you could get into an accident and worse, found liable for not having your car in a safe operating condition resulting in a ticket and so on. While you might be able to find a substitute for the button, that could damage the brake light switch plunger tip making matters worse. The button from Hyundai is very cheap and a quick fix.

I have a problem with my 93 Bronco, I installed new LED bulbs, brake/tail/turn lights with the right size, now my brake lights stay on really faint and they light up bright when I step on brake pedal. The...

The LED- Light emitting diodes- use very little current and voltage to light up and so when you changed from the normal incandescent type +12 , these require only a fraction of the votlage. NOW what seems to HAPPEN is that the return voltage from the switch has RESIDUAL voltage which makes the LED light up, this can be a fraction of a volt and can be a LEAK from the switches, park, brake or otherwise.
Check the wiring once again , check the ground once again and isolate the switches to confirm the LEAK. You can also use a resistor to reduce the voltage if needed which can cut off the light when switch is off.

First check all fuses. If they look good, more than likely brake light switch is bad. Switch is mounted just above brake pedal under the dash. Small plastic switch w/a couple of wires coming from it. Easy fix.

2003 chevy 1500 rear brake lights not working, but over the cab break light is. bulbs look good, the running lights work.

sounds like a bad turn signal switch . both side brake lights run through it but the third brake l;ight runs direct from the brake light switch .- play with the hazard button a few times and if the start working you need the turn signal switch

I replaced light bulb and brake switch is there anything else that needs to be rp;acedto make brake light work

If you have already check fuses, and brake light's still don't work, it's going to be your turn signal switch, the brake light circit runs thought the brake light switch, if your car has a middle top brake light in back of rear window, most of the time that one will still work, and the turn signal will also work, but not the rear ones brake light's, when turn signal switch is bad, hope this was very helpful.

2001 f 150 extended cab. trailer lights were working. had to replace a trailer light uhit because it was broken. now lights do not work properly. running lights work. turn signal only works if running...

The description of the problem is very confusing. If the trailer is disconnected, do all of the functions work OK? If so the problem is with the trailer wires. If all worked before you replaced the light, then thats where the problem lies. The turn signal/brake lights are a seperate circuit than the running lights. The brown should be hot with running lights, and the yellow and green are the turn/brake signals. The trailer lights should be grounded to the trailer frame, and the frame connected to the white wire, Make sure the white wire is connected to the plug on the truck side and connected to the frame of the truck. The turn signal that works with only the running lights on doesnt make sense, and grounds are the most common item. Some Ford trucks have seperate fuses for right and left. There a small fuse box under the hood, near the brake booster.

No rear brake light / turn signals on 2001 Chevy Cavalier

The problem is the turn signal/headlight/hazard switch assembly on the steering column which the brake light wiring runs through. The part is easy to change and cost about $50 at most parts stores
