Hi,

To my knowledge, a 2003 Ford Focus 2.0 SPi engine would need 4 quarts of engine oil (roughly 3.78 liters). Incidentally, the Ford/Cosworth Zeta/Zetec engine would be needing 4.25 quarts (~4 liters).

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

SOURCE: need to install a timing belt on a 2002 ford focus

No marks to align camshafts, set crankshaft at TDC, align camshaft as shown, to align, lobs on cylinder #1 have to be pointing out at 45 deg, on the other end of camshaft's will be a slot on each one insert some thing through both as shown, to hold camshaft's in place.

haynes or chiltons repair manual either at your local library (free) or local parts store ($20) - either way call ahead for availability...

May i see the location of the crankshaft position sensor on a 2003 Mercury sable ls premium sable 3.0L

USA car? yes/no? lost spark did you>? or DTC p03xx errors>?
that sensor is called CKP, and on cars engines it can be many places, some even oddly places, it is not the cam sensor CMP
the 2003 , 3.0 liter V6

the dealer says it also fits Ford Mustang 1996 - 2014
that fact makes it more easy.

The crankshaft position (CKP) sensor:

is a variable reluctance sensor.
is mounted on the engine front cover.
is triggered by a 36-minus-1 tooth trigger wheel located on the crankshaft pulley and damper.
provides base timing and crankshaft speed (rpm) to the powertrain control module (PCM).

Need to know what kind of oil used in 2002 ford focus.

Harold, According to the 2002 Ford Focus Owner manual,
With engine oil filter change : 2.0 liter SPI engine takes ( 3.78 liters / 4.0 U.S. quarts of 5W-20 )
2.0 liter Zetec engine takes ( 4.25 liters / 4.5 U.S. quarts of 5W-20 )

How do you replace a timing belt on a 2000 ford focus 2.0 liter sohc

Removing The Old Timing Belt Remove the negative battery cable in all models.

Detach the passenger inner splash-shield and wheel cover, the accessory drive and timing belts, the tensioner and the crankshaft pulley.

Remove the spark plugs, catalytic converter and idler pulley in 2000 and older Ford Focuses. These models also require the crankshaft be turned to "Top Dead Center" (TOC) and a crankshaft timing peg be inserted. Turn the shaft to the right against the timing peg.

Undo the retaining fasteners and lift the timing belt cover off the engine. Align the crank and camshaft timing marks. Older models call for undoing the water pump pulley and valve cover before locking the camshaft in place.

Release the tensioner's bolt. Turn the arm to the right 14 degrees and place a 1/8 inch drill bit in the opening. This secures the belt tensioner in place.

Take the timing belt off.

Installing Your New Timing Belt

Replace the timing belt counterclockwise motion beginning at the crankshaft.

Unlock the tensioner. Recheck the timing marks by turning the crankshaft two rotations to the right.

Tauten the tensioner's pulley bolt to 15 to 22 foot pounds (20 to 30 Nm) in 2003 and younger models and to 17 to 20 foot pounds (22 to 28 Nm) in older Focuses. Remove the crankshaft timing peg. Reconnect the crankshaft pulley and secure to 81 to 96 foot pounds (110 to 130 Nm) and 81 to 89 foot pounds (110 to 120 Nm) respectively.

Replace the splash shield, front wheel, timing belt cover, accessory drive belt and tensioner and any other items that were disconnected.

Hook up the negative battery cable. Start the engine and check that the timing belt is functioning properly.

10mm, 15mm, and 18mm sockets, utility knife, torque wrench, breaker bar or impact wrench(optional).

Note: It helps to have the car on a lift before you begin, though not too high up, as you'll need to get at teh top of the engine bay under the hood. If you don't have access to a lift, use a 2 ton jack stand.

Remove the plastic splash guard inside the right front fender well.
- There are two 10mm bolts holding it to the fender.
- After removing the bolts, it should pop right out.
Remove right front wheel.
Remove the bolt on the crank pulley
- Use an impact wrench if you have access to one.
- This bolt is a regular right-hand thread.
Install the new pulley on the crank.
- There is a keyway on the crank that the pulley must fit over.
- Push it firmly into place by hand first, to avoid binding when you torque it.
Torque the bolt to 85-91 lb-ft.
- This is tricky if you don't have an impact, so try to find one.
Relieve the belt tensioner and route the new belt over the pulley and accessories.
Reinstall the plastic splash guard.
Put your front wheel back on.
