Car cranks but does not stars

My car cranks but does not starts plus the fuel pump fues burns every time that i crank it.

You either have a short in you fuel pump or the wireing to it.the only way to know for sure is to unplug the pump and see if the fuse blows,if it does repair the harness,if it does'nt repace the pump.

Hope you have fuel in car if you do fuel pump corroded needs replacement

In the am my engine will crank but wont start until i pump the gas peddel 20 times then it starts, and will start everytime all day next morning wont star In the am its like it isnt getting gas??


Pumping the gas pedal on a fuel injected car doesn't really do anything.
However, cranking the engine for an extended period of time could "pump up" the fuel pressure.
You should have about 35psi in the fuel line when you first crank the engine. If the pressure is low, it could take 30-60 seconds to build up that pressure to get the engine to start. Min pressure is around 35-40psi. The pump in the tank could be leaking pressure back into the tank overnight, or the pump relay could be faulty.

2002 mercury sable, first ignition cranking but no start.


I would start with the fuel pump relay. The relay may not be working which would require the engine be cranked for a long time to get fuel pressure.
You could also have a problem with the venting of the gas tank.

It sounds like you need a new fuel filter. It runs until the fuel runs out and the fuel filter is preventing the fuel pump from reaching the correct fuel pressure. If the fuel filter doesn't fix the problem, you might have a bad crankshaft or camshaft position sensor, but this would usually cause the vehicle to die once it has warmed up a bit (when the timing starts to advance).

Won't star when cranking engine.


check the fuel pressure, could be the fuel pressure regulator. also check fire if the fuel pressure is ok. weak fire could cause this

check for fue pressure and alsp spark if there is no spark check crank sensor if no fuel check fuel pump

96 windstar, no power to fuel pump


The power to the fuel pump occurs for only a short time when key is on,engine off. This is to prime the fuel line. Power resumes during cranking and running. Was the power to the pump checked during these cycles or checked with key on only? Power may be present and fuel pump is not reacting. Hope this helps..

99 rodeo ran out of gas now no start


If you can hear the pump run and you get no fuel its the pump, If it blew the fuse i would say the pump tied up. That happens when you run around on empty a lot, gas is what keeps pumps cool when you run under 1/8 of a tank pump is not submerged in gas to keep cool hense pump burns up.

I am having trouble with my speedometer not working occasionally and now my seat belt light is coming on sometimes too. Is this the instrument panel cluster? Or something else? 1998 Dodge Neon. Backstory is as follows: -We take very good care of it and have one dedicated mechanic. -It has only had two owners; my parents and I. -We replaced the battery 2 months ago. -Mechanic checked to make sure the speedometer sensor was working. -We have had issues with the radio for years where it will randomly turn on and off, typically brought on by a stuffed trunk OR wet weather. -The speedometer works until we hit a bump and then the needle flies up and down or sometimes just stops working all together. -Mechanic has made mention of there being some Chrysler specific battery cable that is a smaller side cable and it is not in good condition. -Currently, my problem is that I can't find an old 1998 Dodge Neon in the salvage yard because yards are doing a lot of 2002 and newer vehicles and automatically crushing the others. The meat and potatoes of my question is what direction do I go in? And what of these symptoms ties to each other? And will adding new solder to the points on the panel fix it or is it something else? I'm trying to find least expensive to most expensive options and I'm rather handy but can't drop an engine or transmission or anything so keep this in mind. My handiness ends at resoldering the pins BUT I do have a mechanic I trust, but I fear that maybe I'm not combining symptoms properly. I have the money to repair an item I KNOW is wrong but not to chicken hunt around for problems.
