No such thing unfortunately. The check engine light comes on when your Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects a fault condition with the many sensors that there are on the engine. If you can get access to a fault code reader, then it will tell you which sensor is at fault (get them on ebay cheaply). BUT: if you don't know much about engines and electronic control systems, take it to a dealer for diagnosis, fault codes often need expert interpretation.

thats a new one
there is no check engine sensor.
theres lots of different sensors take tell a computer to set a code and turn on that light.
ask autozone to check the codes for you for free.
its a free service they offer.
the codes will tell you whats wrong
probably an o2 sensor.
ask them if they have it in stock.

I'm not sure I understand your question. When I first read it I thought you were saying you had an error code that the engine idle is low, but the error code you've given is for a MAP sensor problem which you mentioned in your post also. I'm going to guess that you've observed the low idle yourself, and when you ran the diagnostics the engine computer was complaining of a bad MAP sensor signal. This is triggered when the engine computer sees a change in another sensor that should correlate with a certain change in the MAP sensor, but the MAP sensor signal doesn't change as expected. Idle problems are a possible symptom of a bad MAP sensor, so this is not unreasonable. What your engine is telling you is that you should check the MAP sensor and its related wiring and hose connections to try to find your problem. If you fix the problem with the MAP sensor then your idle may start working properly again.

This sounds like a crank sensor problem (possibly a cam sensor). This sensor governs engine timing. These sensors suffer from temperature induced faults, as the engine warms up the body of the sensor expands and causes a break in the internal sensor circuit. Often the sensor will work fine whilst the engine is cold but after 15 minutes when the engine is hot then the misfire begins. Check that the sensor connection is on tight and free of dirt/corrosion. The sensor is either located on a) the engine next to the bell housing of the transmission or b) on the 'front' (drive belt end) of the engine next to the crank harmonic balance pulley. It is fairly small black plastic device held in place with a bolt and with an electrical connection to the top of it.

Was told the check engine sensor needs to be replaced will this affect the mechanical working of the care if it fails?


There is no check engine sensor. The check engine light is controlled by the ECU (computer). There are many sensors that send signals to the ECU. If one of these sensors is telling the ECU that something is not right the ECU will set the check engine light. Whoever told you the check engine sensor needed replacing does not deserve your money. Take you vehicle to another trusted technician and have it diagnosed. If it is running perfectly then there is no hurry, but you do need to find out what is wrong as some problems can cause the O2 sensor or the Catalytic Converter to fail. Just depends on what the problem is. Even a loose gas cap will set the check engine light.

Oil pressure light stays on .engine is running good .why is the light on?


Check the oil pressure sensor and the wiring to it.

Oil Pressure Sensor Removal & Installation 3.4L & 3.5L Engine To Remove:
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the oil pressure sensor. chev_vent_op-sen.gif

  4. Remove the oil pressure sensor from the engine.
To Install:
  1. Install the oil pressure sensor on the engine. Tighten 12 ft-lb (16 Nm).
  2. Connect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Connect the battery ground cable.
  5. Start the engine and check for leaks.
3.6L Engine To Remove:
  1. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector. Oil pressure sensor 3.6L gm-04-36-2519.gif

  2. Remove the oil pressure sensor.
To Install:
  1. Install the oil pressure sensor. Tighten 15 ft-lb (20 Nm).
  2. Connect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
  3. Check for leaks.

My 1998 ford taurus has no power to the cam sensor or the injectors I have changed cmp/ckp/pcm/fuses/relays and checked grounds


HI first does your check engine light come on when you turn the ignition switch on ,second if engine light comes on disconnect tps sensor ,dpf sensor,and fuel pressure sensor see if you got your power to injector and cam sensor power try starting engine whit this sensors disconnected if engine runs ,now try connecting a sensor at a time try to start your engine, if it doesn't you found the sensor that is shorting your circuit, hope this helps you,

Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair
ENGINE TEMPERATURE SENSOR
Removal

Engine temperature sensor, 5-cylinder
Jack up the car.
Remove protection cover from under engine.
Drain the coolant.
Lower the car.
Release coolant hose from thermostat housing using pliers.
Remove thermostat housing.
Remove sensor.

Jack up the car.
Remove protection cover from under engine.
Drain the coolant.
Lower the car.
Loosen oil reservoir for servo pump.
Remove coolant reservoir and put it to one side.
Remove screws and outer/upper timing-gear casing.
Remove screws and wire channel.
Disconnect connector.
Remove 4 screws and thermostat housing.
Remove sensor and wires.
Installation
Engine temperature sensor, 6-cylinder
Install thermostat housing sensor.
Position wires in slot on thermostat housing.
Note! The white marks should be positioned in lower opening of slot, from underneath.
Position gasket on thermostat housing correctly and install thermostat housing using two of the screws.
Position thermostat housing correctly and tighten the four screws.
Position wire channel correctly and position wire in channel.
Tighten screw on wire channel.
Connect the connector.
Install outer/upper timing-gear casing.
Install coolant reservoir.
Install oil reservoir for servo pump.
Follow-on work, 6-cylinder
Fill up coolant.
Warm the engine until the thermostat opens.
Switch engine oft and check the level. Re-fill if necessary.
Check for leaks.
Check in VADIS vehicle communication (read-out of parameter values), for current engine system, that the engine temperature shown appears
correct.
Engine temperature sensor, 5-cylinder
Install in reverse order.
Follow-on work, 5-cylinder
Fill up coolant.
Warm the engine until the thermostat opens.
Switch engine off and check the level. Re-fill if necessary.
Check for leaks.
Check in VADIS vehicle communication (read-out of parameter values), for current engine system, that the engine temperature shown appears
correct.

check for a blown fuse, if it is blown replace it, if it blows again after engine is started you have either a shorted O2 sensor or the wiring leading to the up stream or down stream sensors.

Since this is an intermittent problem, first try to determine if the problem arises due to one of these many intermittent problems:

* Vehicle vibration
* Heat sensitive
* Freezing
* Water intrusion
* Electrical load
* Cold or hot start up

If you can't isolate the cause of the intermittent problem, you can try adjusting the Idle Speed/Ignition Timing/Idle Mixture Ratio:

Idle Speed/Ignition Timing/Idle Mixture Ratio Adjustment

PREPARATION
1) Make sure that the following parts are in good order.

* Battery
* Ignition system
* Engine oil and coolant levels
* Fuses
* ECM harness connector
* Vacuum hoses
* Air intake system
* (Oil filler cap, oil level gauge, etc.)
* Fuel pressure
* Engine compression
* EGR valve operation (If so equipped)
* Throttle valve
* Evaporative emission system

2) On air conditioner equipped models, checks should be carried out while the air conditioner is OFF.
3) On automatic transmission equipped models, when checking idle rpm, ignition timing and mixture ratio,
checks should be carried out while shift lever is in “N” position.
4) When measuring “CO” percentage, insert probe more than 40 cm (15.7 in) into tail pipe.
5) Turn off headlamps, heater blower, rear defogger.
6) Keep front wheels pointed straight ahead.
7) Make the check after the cooling fan has stopped.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1 INSPECTION START
1. Visually check the following:
I Air cleaner clogging
I Hoses and ducts for leaks
I EGR valve operation (If so equipped)
I Electrical connectors
I Gasket
I Throttle valve and throttle position sensor operation
2. Start engine and warm it up until engine coolant temperature indicator points to the middle of gauge.
Ensure engine stays below 1,000 rpm.
3. Open engine hood and run engine at about 2,000 rpm for about 2 minutes under no-load.
4. Perform diagnostic test mode II (Self-diagnostic results).
OK or NG
OK ' GO TO 2.
NG ' 1. Repair or replace components as necessary.
2. GO TO 2.

2 CHECK IGNITION TIMING
1. Run engine at about 2,000 rpm for about 2 minutes under no-load.
2. Rev engine (2,000 to 3,000 rpm) two or three times under no-load, then run engine at idle speed.
3. Turn off engine and disconnect throttle position sensor harness connector.
4. Start and rev engine (2,000 - 3,000 rpm) two or three times under no-load, then run at idle speed.
5. Check ignition timing with a timing light.
15°±2° BTDC (in “P” or “N” position)
OK or NG
OK ' GO TO 4.
NG ' GO TO 3.

3 ADJUST IGNITION TIMING
1. Adjust ignition timing by turning distributor after loosening securing bolts.
2. Turn off engine and connect throttle position sensor harness connector to throttle position sensor.
' GO TO 2.


4 CHECK BASE IDLE SPEED
1. Check idle speed.
700±50 rpm (in “P” or “N” position)
OK or NG
OK ' GO TO 6.
NG ' GO TO 5.

5 ADJUST BASE IDLE SPEED
1. Rev engine (2,000 to 3,000 rpm) 2 or 3 times under no-load then run engine at idle speed.
2. Adjust idle speed by turning idle speed adjusting screw.
700±50 rpm (in “P” or “N” position)
' GO TO 6.

6 CHECK TARGET IDLE SPEED
1. Turn off engine and connect throttle position sensor harness connector.
2. Start and rev engine (2,000 to 3,000 rpm) 2 or 3 times under no-load then run at idle speed.
3. Check idle speed.
750±50 rpm (in “P” or “N” position)
OK or NG
OK ' GO TO 9.
NG ' GO TO 7.

7 DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
1. Check IACV-AAC valve and replace if necessary.
2. Check IACV-AAC valve harness and repair if necessary.
3. Check ECM function by substituting another known good ECM.
(ECM may be the cause of a problem, but this is rarely the case.)
' GO TO 9.

9 CHECK FRONT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR LH SIGNAL
1. Run engine at about 2,000 rpm for about 2 minutes under no-load.
2. Set “Left bank front heated oxygen sensor monitor” in the Diagnostic Test Mode II.
3. Make sure that MIL goes on more than 5 times during 10 seconds at 2,000 rpm.
OK or NG
OK ' GO TO 12.
NG (MIL does not blink.) ' GO TO 17.
NG (MIL blinks less than 5 times.)
' 1. Replace front heated oxygen sensor LH.
2. GO TO 10.


10 CHECK FRONT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR LH SIGNAL
1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Run engine at approx. 2000 rpm for approx. 2 minutes under no-load.
3. Set “Left bank front heated oxygen sensor monitor” in the Diagnostic Test Mode II.
4. Make sure that MIL goes on more than 5 times during 10 seconds at 2,000 rpm.
OK or NG
OK ' GO TO 13.
NG ' GO TO 11.

11 DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
1. Check fuel pressure regulator.
2. Check mass air flow sensor and its circuit.
3. Check injector and its circuit.
Clean or replace if necessary.
4. Check engine coolant temperature sensor and its circuit.
5. Check ECM function by substituting another known good ECM.
(ECM may be the cause of a problem, but this is rarely the case.)
' GO TO 2.


13 CHECK FRONT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR RH SIGNAL
1. Set “Right bank front heated oxygen sensor monitor” in the Diagnostic Test Mode II.
2. Make sure that MIL goes on more than 5 times during 10 seconds at 2,000 rpm.
OK or NG
OK ' INSPECTION END
NG (MIL does not blink.) ' GO TO 16.
NG (MIL blinks less than 5 times.)
' 1. Replace front heated oxygen sensor RH.
2. GO TO 14.


14 CHECK FRONT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR RH SIGNAL
1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Run engine at approx. 2000 rpm for approx. 2 minutes under no-load.
3. Set “Right bank front heated oxygen sensor monitor” in the Diagnostic Test Mode II.
4. Make sure that MIL goes on more than 5 times during 10 seconds at 2,000 rpm.
OK or NG
OK ' INSPECTION END
NG ' GO TO 15.

15 DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
1. Check fuel pressure regulator.
2. Check mass air flow sensor and its circuit.
3. Check injector and its circuit. Clean or replace if necessary.
4. Check engine coolant temperature sensor and its circuit.
5. Check ECM function by substituting another known good ECM.
(ECM may be the cause of a problem, but this is rarely the case.)
' GO TO 2.
16 CHECK FRONT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR RH HARNESS
1. Turn off engine and disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect ECM harness connector.
3. Disconnect front heated oxygen sensor RH harness connector.
4. Check harness continuity between ECM terminal 50 and front heated oxygen sensor RH harness connector.
Continuity should exist.
OK or NG
OK ' 1. Connect ECM harness connector.
2. GO TO 18.
NG ' 1. Repair or replace harness.
2. GO TO 9.

17 CHECK FRONT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR LH HARNESS
1. Turn off engine and disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect ECM harness connector.
3. Disconnect front heated oxygen sensor LH harness connector.
4. Check harness continuity between ECM terminal 51 and front heated oxygen sensor LH harness connector.
Continuity should exist.
OK or NG
OK ' 1. Connect ECM harness connector.
2. GO TO 18.
NG ' 1. Repair or replace harness.
2. GO TO 9.

18 PREPARATION FOR “CO” % CHECK
1. Disconnect engine coolant temperature sensor harness connector.
2. Connect a resistor (4.4 kW) between terminals of engine coolant temperature sensor harness connector.
' GO TO 19.

19 CHECK “CO” %
1. Start engine and warm it up until engine coolant temperature indicator points to the middle of gauge.
2. Rev engine (2,000 to 3,000 rpm) two or three times under no-load, then run engine at idle speed.
3. Check “CO” %.
Idle CO: 1.5 - 9%
After checking CO%,
a. Disconnect the resistor from terminals of engine coolant temperature sensor.
b. Connect engine coolant temperature sensor harness connector to engine coolant temperature sensor.
OK or NG
OK ' 1. Replace front heated oxygen sensor LH.
2. GO TO 10.
NG ' GO TO 20.

20 DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
1. Connect front heated oxygen sensor harness connectors to front heated oxygen sensors.
2. Check fuel pressure regulator.
3. Check mass air flow sensor and its circuit.
4. Check injector and its circuit.
Clean or replace if necessary.
5. Check engine coolant temperature sensor and its circuit.
6. Check ECM function by substituting another known good ECM.
(ECM may be the cause of a problem, but this is rarely the case.)
' GO TO 2.
