Where is the in-line fuel filter on a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe located.

I am not familiar with that model, but it dosen't sound like a fuel filter to me .
If it runs good after you get it started, the filter is probably ok,i don't know where it is located on that model, but it sounds like you have already found the problem (low fuel pressure) check for leaks, make sure the lines are on the right places on tank .Whatever is causing low fuel pressure is probably the solution.
hope this helps!

Water in fuel light keeps coming on even after changing fuel filter and several "components" around it for 450 dollars at dealership. Is there an adequate additive to put in the tank? Can I syphon...

You must have water in your tank which has found its way to the filter again, unless it is an erroneous message. Check the fuel filter for water. If you find water the inlet to the filter or the fuel pump retaining plate (you did not mention what vehicle or if it is carb or injection) are about the only places where you can get the fuel out. Modern cars have traps in the fuel line to prevent siphoning.

Where is the fuel filter located on my 2000 camry

  1. 1 Disconnect the fuel-relay fuse, which is a 15-amp fuse located behind the glove compartment inside the front dashboard.
  2. 2 Turn your engine on until it stops on its own due to lack of fuel. The disconnected relay fuse ensures that the fuel system will stall out, thereby allowing the pressure in the fuel lines to dissipate.
  3. 3 Raise the back end of your Camry using a car jack. Jack stands can be placed on each side of the car as an extra safety measure.
  4. 4 Place the drip pan beneath the fuel system under your car. A 2002 Toyota Camry's fuel system is located under the driver's side of the car and can be found by following the fuel lines to their central location.
  5. 5 Unharness the fuel filter from the system bracket by squeezing the small tabs that connect it to the fuel lines. If the tabs are difficult to pinch, use the needle-nose pliers for a firmer grasp.
  6. 6 Lower the fuel filter to the ground gently, allowing any excess fuel drainage to fall into the drip pan.
  7. 7 Install the new fuel filter by placing it onto the bracket where the old fuel filter was just resting. When the filter is properly inserted, you will hear the snapping sound of the tabs locking into place.
  8. 8 Remove the drip pan, pliers and old filter from beneath your Camry. Your shop rags can be used to clean up any fuel that may have spilled outside of the drip pan.
  9. 9 Bring your car back down to ground level after removing the jack stands. Exercise caution regarding any animals or children that could be in the vicinity of the car during this step.
  10. 10 Plug the fuel-relay fuse back into the outlet in the glove compartment.
  11. 11 Crank your engine several times until it starts. The motor is unlikely to start on your first couple tries, because the fuel is working its way through the system again. Allow a few seconds between each attempt, and your fuel change is successful once the car is running on the fourth or fifth try.
plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

What happens when your fuel filter goes bad

there are certain shadows of "bad" a fuel filter can leak. this will give a high fuel usage, a fine fresh fuel smell and maybe some drop in performance a fuel filter may jam. this will give bad performance, a stalling engine or the engine will not run at all a fuel filter can be missing. this is not recommended since fine dirt, wich in allways present in fuel, will jam or damage the injection system. there isnt much ore i would think of when it comes to a bad fuel filter.

Hesitation problem when accelerating. Quad 4 has hesitation espcialy when first taking off. New fuel pump, coil packs, fuel filter, throttle pos sensor converter.

Check for vacuum leaks, make sure your PVC valve is operationa. Also be sure to take your car to a place such as autozone where they can do a detailed diagnostic test (usually free of charge) wich will help you further locate the problem..

PCV Valve usualy runs about 3 - 7 dollars, and is usually located on your valve cover attacthed to a vacuum line,

O2, and Fuel sensors may sometimes have adverse effects on engine performance.

Fuel filter

The system is pressurised! Be careful!

Remove your fuse for the fuel pump.

Start the engine and idle until the engine stops.

Try starting it again to make sure there is no more fuel in the system.

This will depressurise your system. Undo your fuel filler cap just to make certain!

When this is done, push the clips down the pipe away from the filter, or remove the clips.

Pull off the pipes and replace the filter.

Reattach the clips in the same place.

Screw in the fuel filler cap.

Replace the fuse and crank the engine until it fires.

Hesitating could mean a bad spark plug, wires or if the fuel filter hasn't been changed in a long time, check underneath the vehicle along the fuel line from the gas tank and see if there is a filter. Usually it is either near the rear tire well area, or near the engine, if not it could be one that is inside or near the gas tank itself. Also have a pulsing test done on the injectors to make sure there is enough pressure and electric to them.
