Question about 1991 Chevrolet C1500

2 Answers

1995 chevy pick up. K2500, 5.7. Will not start. no spark or fuel. I have replaced, fuel pump,fuel relay, checked all fuses, replaced pick up coil and ecm at distributor, replaced ignition coil and oil pse sending unit. From what I can read on and my on diognostics the only thing left is a fusable link somewhere or the ecm ( main brain/diognostic. When I jumper A & B at the diognostic port I get nothing/no flash at all and when the key is turned on there is no service engine soon light to come on prior to starting. My manual states(with the igition switch turned to the on position , a "Service engine soon" light is a basic check for ignition and battery supply to the ECM. I do not get a service engine soon light to come on.

    Well it is not the Starter solenoid. The truck turns over fine and would not have anything to do with the no spark/no fuel. There is no diognostics comming back on the truck. No service engine soon light comes on when ignition is turned to on and there should be. That is telling me with the help of my Haynes manual there is no basic check for ignition and battery supply to the ECM. I can turn it over until the battery dies if needed but nothing else.

    Please advise,
    TH

    Have you ever heard of this problem before with the no diognostic lights? Also does the ECM computer control the diognostics? Thanks for the prior reply. There is no fusable links that I can find. My book says there should be a bunch at the fire wall and one at the battery but it also said there should be a fuel pump relay and fuse there and they are on the other side in a relay box. So far no fusable links found. I will keep looking around.

    Please advise on other questions,

    Thanks,

    TH

I would suggest replacing ECM / computer. It isn't a cheap job, but that is what it is sounding like. That is usually the culprit. Otherwise, look for any loose or broken wiring or fusible link running off the ecm to other components

    The ecm does store the diagnostic codes. The datalink to read engine codes is read from ECM or ECU. That is strange you are not getting anything, that is why I think ECM is to blame. Also good idea to check wiring from ignitoin to ECM to make sure it is getting power.

2004 Chevrolet Malibu mix v6 LS engine turns but will not start

Check for fuel, spark, and then compression. Fuel problems can be pump, pump relay, fuse, filter, line, etc. Spark problems can be distributor module, distributor, coil packs, power to distributor or coil packs, plug wires. Compression problems would be piston rings, piston walls, piston rods.

My car will not start it cranks but will not turn on. So far I have changed the crank sensor I also have no spark to coil packs or spark plugs Fuel pump does not turn on when I turn the key. What is the...

Begin by checking fuses. Ignition, efi, fuel pump fuses. When key turned to on, do the warning lights and gauges work? That verifies switch has power and is sending power out. With key on, the coil primary wire to coil packs should have voltage.

No spark and no gas? Fuel pump fuse good? I think I would use a test light or multimeter to check that fuel pump fuse terminal has power to it with key on. If that's good, pull connector off at fuel tank and check for a voltage signal on fuel pump wire when the engine is cranking-if good signal, fuel pump needs taken out for replacement or inspection. If no signal check that fuel pump relay has power to it. With key off, pull the relay and check that one terminal has power to it-the feed wire for the pump. If no power signal at all, check maxi fuses or fusible links for a failure.

My chevy C3500 4x2 diesel crew cab is turning over but wont start i checked all the fuses do u think it may be at fuel pump r a line stopped up or a senser

You need air, fuel, and spark to start your vehicle. It may be the fuel pump, filter, fuel pump fuse/relay. You should be able to hear the fuel pump kick on when you first turn your key. Fuel goes to the pump, filter, lines, and engine. If it is getting gas, you need to check for spark. Spark plugs/coil wires, distributor, dist.cap, cam sensor, ect. It can be anyone of them. Check for gas and spark.

If fuel pump relay is bad yes it will still get spark.
Sonds like you do have a fuel pump, or fuel pump relay problem, most likely the pump.

CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE FIRST IT SHOULD BE 12.5 VOLTS.IF NOT REPLACE BATTERY HAVE ALTERNATOR CHECKED.IF BATTERY GOOD.HAVE VECHICLE SCAN FOR PCM PROBLEMS - CRANKSHAFT SENSOR PROBLEMS OR CAMSHAFT SENSOR PROBLEMS.IF ALL IS GOOD GET A SPARK TESTER AND FUEL PUMP PRESSURE GAUGE TESTER.IF GETTING NO SPARK PROBLEM COULD BE LOOSE BAT.POWER SUPPLY WIRES AT IGNITION COIL MODULE OR IGNITION MODULE FAULTY.IF FUEL PUMP NOT RUNNING CHECK FUSE ABD RELAY IF BOTH IS GOOD FUEL PUMP FAULTY.

1997 dodge ram won't start. My fuel pump does not run and coil won't spark. Iv'e checked fuses and relays and they look fine. Could a bad fuel pump cause the asd to kill power to the coil?

First check any ignition/fuel related fuses. Check to make sure you have 12 volts coming into the pump and coil. If nothing to the fuel pump replace the fuel pump relay - if you do have power to the fuel pump then replace the pump. If nothing is coming to the coil it is either an ignition relay or a wiring issue. If you have 12 volts to the coil but no spark then replace the coil.
Also the fuel pump/relay would not kill the coil.

When this truck dies,does it have spark,or fuel pressure?Check it for no spark,if it has no spark,replace the ignition module.These gm year models are bad to go out ,and the distributor pick up coil also.Replace the module first,if this does not help,replace the pick up coil.NOW ON A FUEL RELATED PROBLEMit could be fuel pump,fuel pump relay,or the pick up coil.The pick up coil pulses the injectors,and the spark.I hope this helps,if not let me know.

1995 chevy pickup won't start

Hello;
I would start with the fuse panel. Any blown fuses? Replace an dtry to start. On the firewall is a cover on the passenger side. Remove the cover and make sure the power is there. Check with a test light. The fuel pump relay is also there. Test is and also test the distributor and coil.
Hope this helps, rate me high please.
Thanks;

1995 blazer was running rough, now not starting

if you believe some one put water or bad gas in your tank, then you will have to drain the tank. however, to know if you have water in your gas, first disconnect fuel return line or the line that goes in to the fuel pressure regulator put some fuel in a clear glass and let it sit for 15min.if you see white cloud at the bottom of the glass or water. drain the tank. if not check for spark by removing one spark plug wire and spark plug. place the spark plug in the spark plug wire boot and touch it on the metal part of the car. do not touch the spark plug itself only the booth with the plug in the boot. have some one crank the car over. if you see spark, the spark part is ok. but if no spark, check the coil with a volt meter it should be 3 to 8 ohm if not replace the coil. if ok, check for fuel by removing one spark plug or two and see if they are wet,if wet pump is ok. if not check the fuel pump relay and fuse. if fuse is blown replace. check relay with a volt meter. resistance of the relay should be between 40 to 80 ohm. not mega ohm,if mega ohm, replace. if not , listen to the fuel pump while some one is cranking the car. if you donot hear the pump, disconnect the pump electrical connector and applive 12 volt and ground to the pump by using a jumper or any wire and listen for pump sound. if not replace the pump. if there is sound coming from the pump, it is ok. check the fuel pressure regulator with a fuel pressure gauge or simply disconnect the vaccum from the regulator and try starting the car. if fuel pump is ok and spark is ok. then it maybe the computer or the crank position signal. also check the fuel filter it may be clog.
