1995 F250 7.5 ignition problems.

I can start it and run all day sometimes but if I stop it it may or may not start. There isn't any spark at the distributor. I replaced the ignition module, coil and wire, cap and rotor. When I wait for an hour or to overnight it will start. Much puzzled.

You should be able to track it down with a voltmeter, when it won't start check for battery voltage at the coil, switch side if none fault at ignition switch, if ok check distributor side of coil , if none coil fault, if ok check voltage at ignition module, was new heat sink paste applied to new module before fitting ?. if not this could be causing the fault when hot.

SOURCE: 1991 honda accord "no spark"

There is a relay mounted way up under the dash on the driver side. It is about 1"x1"x2" and it says Mitsuba on it. This is the PGMFI relay, sometimes called the main relay or fuel injection relay. It is very likely the problem. You can buy another one, or there was a bulletin on how to repair it. You need to take it out, pop the cover off, and resolder the cracked solder joints on the pc board that the relays are mounted on. Really not that hard if you have a little soldering experience. If not, just buy another one, about 50 bucks.cb28323.jpg

SOURCE: No spark?

Hi, common thing with the mazda was the coil or the ignition amplifier going faulty, both of which are located within the distributor, the coil ususally gives the symptoms you describe, a weak spark. The coil is the most common failure aswell for your vehicle i would recommend a new one, also make sure distributor is spinning as it could just be a case of a broken timing belt.

Good luck Davelee

SOURCE: 1990 FORD F 150,SPARK ON THE COIL BUT NO FROM THE DISTRIBUTOR

i had the same problem. there is a group of wires that go by the distributer and branch off to the distributer and go towards the front. when i would jiggle it the van would die. it ended up being a pinched wire.

I have a f250 supper duty ford that starts but will stop after it is running have put a new fuel pump and filter on and it does the same speed has nothing to dowith it .

An ignition coil that is completely dead will prevent the engine from starting or will stop the engine if the car is running at the time of failure. This is because no current will reach the spark plugs. An ignition coil that is failing will still provide current to the plugs, but it might not be enough for a full spark and the car will run sluggishly. If the current being provided by the coil isn't consistent, the car will run rough. good-day !

Car Dies

My car idled OK but not great and used to die during stops at times. I replaced the spark plugs and wires without a difference. Shortly after the car died with very little power, just enough to limp home. I had a shop fix it so I didn't guess what was wrong. They replaced the Ignition Module and some of the Coil Packs. They had to replace the Spark Plugs I just put in due to fouling. If you are smelling gas you are putting your cat at risk and might have a more expensive problem later. It cost me $500 but it runs better than ever.
