I can start it and run all day sometimes but if I stop it it may or may not start. There isn't any spark at the distributor. I replaced the ignition module, coil and wire, cap and rotor. When I wait for an hour or to overnight it will start. Much puzzled.
If no voltage at the e-coil check for voltage coming from the EEC power relay
You should be able to track it down with a voltmeter, when it won't start check for battery voltage at the coil, switch side if none fault at ignition switch, if ok check distributor side of coil , if none coil fault, if ok check voltage at ignition module, was new heat sink paste applied to new module before fitting ?. if not this could be causing the fault when hot.

got to be ignition module ,check for feed to it and if you have a feed then check the earths and if ok just change it ,these thing can just stop when you turn engine off ,never seen one go whilst being driven .

There is a relay mounted way up under the dash on the driver side. It is about 1"x1"x2" and it says Mitsuba on it. This is the PGMFI relay, sometimes called the main relay or fuel injection relay. It is very likely the problem. You can buy another one, or there was a bulletin on how to repair it. You need to take it out, pop the cover off, and resolder the cracked solder joints on the pc board that the relays are mounted on. Really not that hard if you have a little soldering experience. If not, just buy another one, about 50 bucks.

Hi, common thing with the mazda was the coil or the ignition amplifier going faulty, both of which are located within the distributor, the coil ususally gives the symptoms you describe, a weak spark. The coil is the most common failure aswell for your vehicle i would recommend a new one, also make sure distributor is spinning as it could just be a case of a broken timing belt.
Good luck Davelee

i had the same problem. there is a group of wires that go by the distributer and branch off to the distributer and go towards the front. when i would jiggle it the van would die. it ended up being a pinched wire.
