Please advise how to add freon to mitsubishi montero '01 air conditioner unit

The best thing i can tell you is to take it into a shop. You can add freon to a system but you need to know what kind your vehicle needs. If it takes the new current freon your in luck you can buy a recharge kit at any local parts store. If not you have a few options. You can get a conversion kit to change the system over to the new freon or you can try to find a shop that can recharge it with the older freon for your vehicle. Since its an 01 it should be the new freon but i cant be sure. There is a fitting with a cap on it on you AC Lines. should be 2 a red cap and a green cap. You remove the green cap and with the engine running attach a recharger bottle from the store and refill the system. Note the freon recharge kit will come with some instructions to always read them first. hope that helps good luck.

The air conditioning doesnt work it just blows hot air even with the ac on. i dont know whats wrong with it if everything needs to be replaced or just something simple. i know nothing about cars

What I would try first is recharge the a/s system, your car came with R12 freon, that type of freon is impossible to get these days, so you will need a retro fit kit to convert it to 134A freon, the kit will have two 134a fittings that screw on to your R12 port, so that the 134a recharge hose will go on, the low side will be the one your add freon through, it will be the thinker hose of the two, the thin one is the high side stay away from that one, you will also need one can of freon (134a), if it works, it might work for a while till the freon leaks out again, then you will have to take it it for repair, but this way you know it's just a leak and every thing else works.Good luck, let me know if I can be of more help.

Freon for the back

Hello tbirch6: My name is Roger and I will try to help you. Your question is not real clear. If you want to know what kind of freon to use? The freon is the same as the front system. Both the front and rear a/c systems are the same. There is not a separate system for each. If you fill one you filled both. The total amount of freon for both units is 54 ounces or 3lb.4 oz. The best way to recharge the system is to start from scratch with a vacuum on the system and a complete recharge of the system. There is noway of knowing how much of a charge is in the system otherwise. Most shops can preform this task at a reasonable charge. Please do not just vent the freon into the atmosphere as it depletes the Ozone layer. Should you need further help please just ask. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

1) need freon 2) A/C/Heat won't turn off

In '92 most cars were still using r-12 freon, but some were using the newer r-134 freon. If its r-12 you need to have a repair shop recharge it. And they will probably try to sell you on converting the system to take r-134, which wont be cheap. If its r-134 you can buy a can with the regulator hose at any auto parts store for under $30 and as long as you know where the low pressure port is you can recharge it yourself. Just follow the instrucions on the can. Good luck, I hope this helps you.

What kind of freon

R 134A is now the choice for freon use in autos. The "old stuff" R 12 has been banned for some time now. You car is new enough to have R 134A in it You should not have any problems in finding someone to check and recharge if nessary. Hope this helps. Moe

Freon leak in line lincoln continental 97

use 134A and you can put it in your self.. Just pay attention Only instal freon in the low side of your system.. low side is always the larger hose ... Got that ? larger .. small hose is high side is not not the place to put it in .. Find your largest air conditioner hose and follow it out till you find a port to put in freon .. which you can buy it and the hose at a walmart store..they do make a sealant also that will sometimes slow the loss of freon.. let me know if you need more.. jerry
