Question about 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Grand Cherokee wont start, clicking coming from interior fuse box

After replacing a bad alternator and testing my battery my jeep worked for 2 days. Next day it wouldnt start and it seemed like the battery was dead because the interior lights were off and instrument panel was very dim. I jumped it and after letting it run for 30 minutes i turned it off to see if i could start it up. when i turn the key forward all the lights, radio, instruments etc. lit up brightly but when i went to start the engine it didnt turn over and all the lights went dim. i had the alternator and battery tested and they are both good. After reinstalling them there is a clicking coming from the interior fuse box and after locating the clicking relay i removed it and replaced but the clicking continues with the new relay. I do have an aftermarked stereo system that has worked without a hitch for 3 years so I dont know if that is a factor.

Bare or burned wire, most likely battery cable or alternator cable near exhaust system which might be making contact with a metal part somewhere, off and on, because of bumps, vibration, etc.

I just bought my son a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The battery and alternator were both recently replaced by the previous owner. He drove the car 2 days no problem. Today the battery was draining as...

the alternator failed this is usually a chrylser and jeep dodge isue the bearing fails and the alternator quits charging the if the light comes on its usually alternator but on some jeeps the light dosent come on because it reads that it is charging

the other thing that it could be is the battery shot on ya the only thing you can do to see if its a good battery do a battery acid test

Will not start . thought battery was weak because it seemed like starter was dragging 2 days before not starting. now when i turn key all i hear is relay clicking inside fuse box

Battery and charging system needs to be tested. If the alternator quit you can only run so long on the battery untill it runs out of juice. Boost the truck and let it run for a couple minutes ( remove booster cables ) then remove the negative cable from battery.. if it keeps running the charging system is fine and the battery is to blame.

After sitting for a few days the car needs to be jumped

Charge the battery with a battery charger and have it load tested. If it shows good after testing, you have a power draw in the system somewhere.
Check obvious items such as interior lights or glove box light staying on, then put an ammeter between either of the battery leads and the battery and pull fuses one by one till the draw disappears or diminishes substantially. That will be the circuit that serves whatever item is giving you the problem, then you need to do some tracing to check exactly which item is causing the draw.(while testing, keep in mind that if the door is open it will draw for interior lighting)
Also check alternator output... an alternator that is under-charging can also draw power with the engine off....usually caused by a bad bridge rectifier inside the unit (get a rebuilt one).

My fuse box under the hood clicks then the check engine light comes on then it will start what needs to be fixed?

Hello, If you get bad cell in the battery it can drain the system and overload the alternator output, the car is VERY sensitive to voltage. The clicking noise you hear is the starter solenoid not getting enough current.
Remove the battery, have it charged and TESTED on a battery tester, if it tests bad then replace it (the battery). Alternators usually do not fail unless contaminated by oil leaks or damged by aftermarket radios that require high current.

My 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo won't start. It began to start then failed. Now it won't start at all. No clicking. Interior lights are on but the headlights make clicking noise continuously inside jeep...

Check that your battery has 12v, check and clean terminal contacts. If battery has less than 12v have it charged and load tested. 9 of 10 times this will get you going...if not, I'll give you the rest of testing later if you need it.

94 Jeep Grand Cherokee will not start

Sounds like the inline fuse popped. It is located in the wire that comes from the alternator to the battery. The alternator is sending out the juice, but it can't make it to the battery. I sincerely hope that this gets you on the road again. Best wishes and God Bless.

Flat battery

Replace that fuse and start by removing fuses one by one from block, till draw disappears. Then, check that system for problems.
Don't forget: your alternator will always show up as a small draw.
Check accessories such as glovebox light first... Often, if box is not closing properly, it will kill the battery in a few days. Same goes for interior light delay!
