Question about 2001 Mitsubishi Galant

Car died while driving down the highway

I was driving down the highway at 55 mph and my 2001 galant died. It would not start back up at all until later that day after I got it towed home. Now I can start it and it will run for about five minutes and then it dies while coming to a stop or going slow in the parking lot. At one time the only way I could get it going is by keeping my foot on the gas while putting it in drive so I could get it back home. Can you please help me figure out what is wrong with my car?

Needs tuning. Also replace fuel and air filters. If that doesn't help then it may need piston ring replacement.

Why does my car die every ten minutes when driving?

Does it start right back up or do you have to wait some? What are the driving conditions...30 mph, 60 mph, stop and go, highway? Year make and model helps also.

Your alternator has probably failed so you were running off your battery. when it ran out everything shuts down. Charge the battery, then start the car after you start it disconnect your battery if it dies your alternator is bad.

If the fuel pump worked before you unplugged the computer, I would expect it to work when you reconnected everything.
Are there any trouble codes stored in the computer ? Do you have power to the coil ?
It could be the coil or the computer, or something else.

My 1996 mitsubishi galant may have a bad ground. the battery is constently dead, even with a new battery, if it sits the battery will be dead in 5 hours. i get a jump and it starts right up, but if i fail...

you need to get the charging system and battery tested. Most places charge about $40 for this service. Only takes a few minutes to complete but it will be money well spent. Then you can do the replacement parts yourself if you inclined.

CAR DIED ON HIGHWAY 3 WEEKS AGO GOING 55 MPH .

A lot of things could cause it. The codes need to be pulled first. Most likely the MASS AIR FLOW METER is at fault, but without the codes it's just a guess.
