When the engine is running ragged, place your hand over the opening of the carburator. If the idle smooths out, you have a vacuum leak somewhere on the intake system; it could be the base gasket for the carb, the intake manifold gasket, or a broken vacuum line, or a combination of that. What you have is too much air getting into the engine, but the air is not going thru the carb. Please check for vacuum leaks, you can use a can of carb cleaner, spray the intake manifold, if the idle smooths up, that would be a good place to start.

Make sure that your truck vaccume line goes into the intake manifold where there is a vacuume spiggot at the base of the carb. You may have iadvertantly hooked it up to the wrong place.

First, take it back and give them a chance to correct there repair abilities or lack of knowledge. Hopefully they will not want to charge you. Find a good repair facility before you need one.

Hw can i fix toyota hilux d4d 3000,2006 model cannot rev over 1500 revs

There are alot of factors that could prevent the engine from revving over 1500RPM. Some sensors like the crank angle or cam angle have to be connected in order for the engine to even start, other wiring loom plugs like the turbo controller need to be connected or the car goes into limp mode and it won't rev past a certain point.

Then there are the automatic throttle controller area wiring loom type plugs near the inter cooler, sometimes people forget to put them all back and the engine won't rev high. Making sure the vacuum pipes in this area are all connected properly, one unplugged pipe, no vacuum, the injector pump relies on the vacuum system and if it doesn't work then not enough fuel delivery, engine can't rev high. Also if the fuel rail is leaking or if the fuel filter is clogged then engine won't rev high.

I have a 1982 landcruiser - ran fine - then changed the air pump - and now won't start unless full choked and won't idle at all - did i misplace a vacuum hose ? I can't find a vacuum hose diagram anywhere....

Do you mean vacuum pump? If so you probably need to change ALL vacuum hoses. With the new pump comes new vacuum pressures, old hoses will probably be sucked off their pipe nipples or small cracks turn into large ones, one or both of the above will cause severe rough idle and running along with much power loss and fuel mileage will ****. If you have the original service manual on the truck and engine (I am assuming you have the 4.2L straight 6- 2F) it has a vacuum hose routing view in it. good luck

Engine trouble with my 1983 toyota pickup

Toyota engines have a built in TSTV- thermo controlled vacuum system where vacuum is applied to the choke system in various levels as according to the temp. of the engine. If the TSTV is faulty or if the vacuum pipes are incorrectly placed then you have a choke which is not opening up properly. Fuel is thus not burnt completely and due to the incomplete combustion there is a formation of soot on your exhaust. Try to get the choke to open up in relation to the temp of the engine. The fuel/air ratio alse needs to be checked ( idle mixture control) once you have the vacuum system working properly.
