Question about Chrysler Sebring

1 Answer

Our 2004 Chrysler Sebring has not been driven in a while, maybe about a year. Apparently, the battery died (it is the original battery...5 yrs old) and the computer reset itself. We charged the battery, to the point where the charger said it was fully charged, and tried to start the car. There was a click, followed by one attempt for the engine to turn over...then an electrified smell in the air. Check Engine light is one while trying to start the car, but the engine is in good condition. A friend told me that the engine and the computer are probably fine, and to get a new battery. That the computer is not getting enough juice to fully restart, or to start the engine. What is your expert advice? :) -SarBear

No reverse in my 2004 Chrysler Sebring

Check the operating cable/linkage. If its OK then its possible the reverse clutch in the trans isn't functioning. A trans shop may be able to check the pressures that operate the clutches. Its 10 years old, you don't say how many miles?

ok try this take the negative wire off the battery overnight then come back and rehook up the negative if this does not work ur best bet is to have it towed to a dealer or if there is a sears in that mall they might be able to help the reason the car keeps cutting off is it the alarm is sending a signal to the fuel pump witch in turn is starving the engine of gas

Chrysler Sebring 2004 Convertible Bad Battery Charge Problems

I would look at the alternator. I had a grand am that would do that to me, even with a brand new battery. The alternator output wasn't able to run the vehicle and charge the battery. Alternators are picky things, especially being in Canada (which I assume from the KM), the hot and cold cycles don't play nicely with the brushes and core. I'd have the alternator checked and replaced if needed.
