No voltage getting to A/C Compressor. freon OK

A/C went out suddenly, checked refrigerrant -- level is fine, checked for voltage at compressor -- nothing..... If I apply voltage to the dark green wire at the compressor from the + side of the battery the compressor runs -- I need help isolating the problem beyond this though.
Thanks, Kathy P in TN

Thanks rockitman187! It was the relay, pulled it and tested the relay.... tested good, heard it clicking on the test bench when we applied voltage across the terminal per the diagram on the side of the relay, noted some slight corrosion on the terminals - burnished the terminals and reinstalled the relay -- and voila! It magically works again. We also tested for voltage at the recepticle the relay plugs into tested okay where it should have voltage with the key on and A/C on. I hope it was just the corrosion -- got to take a 20 hour round trip down to Texas in this truck next week with a 300lb disable male -- he won't do well at all without A/C.

The acc fuse in my 2002 ford escape keeps clicking Constantly and at night it dims the head lights each time it clicks. Any suggestions on what might cause this

Fuses don't click. It's probably the relay kicking the compressor on. I would get it checked to see level of freon and how much voltage it's drawing. If thats all ok the compressor may be turning hard pulling more voltage which is dimming lights. If it keeps clicking it sounds like its low on freon.

I have driven 80K miles so far in 12 years. All of a sudden AC stopped producing cold air. All vents when turned ON only blow heat (HOT-AIR only). AUTO switch only lights up when temperature is increased...

The temp is controlled by a flap called an air door. It could be an electric motor/actuator, a vacuum control or a manual cable but the door is likely not closing all the way and allowing air to pass through the heater core. ----------
There are few possibilities needs to be checked.------ The Freon, is the Freon low.Get the AC pressure tested. The low pressure switch towards the Accumulator, should show 35 to 45 lbs and high pressure switch should show Approx 80 to 100 lbs,------- But if freon level is fine then get the Hvac module inspected. Its module problem , This is the module in the dash board that has all of the A/C control knobs and buttons in it. It is very easy to remove; only 4 screws have to come out first. This module fails or shorts and cause this problem.------ But first check the freon level, if its low then its low freon problem.Get the pressure tested, if no pressure showing then by pass low pressure switch via jumper and see if compressor runs.If yes then replace the low pressure switch. But if all checked ok, then its HVAC module.--------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

2007 dodge 5.9 diesel, ac suddenly quit. I can tell it is trying to kick on if I turn it off and on, No freon leaks. compressor is fine. ECM?

is the condensor fan working? also check the pressure on the system, high pressure due to low coolant level or insufficient air flow through the condensor will shut the system off. also the pressure transducer may be malfunctioning and not allowing the compressor to come on.

My AC just went out on my 2005 odyssey. I have verified all the fuses and checked for voltage at all connectors.. Appears my compressor is not getting power. Do you have any suggestions..

Check freon pressure/level. If it's low there is a safety feature that won't allow compressor to activate unless there is sufficient freon.

2005 Ford Expedition No voltage @ compressor

You should check the freon in the system. If it is low you will not get any power to the compressor. Once you hook up the freon and start to flow it, the compressor will come on. Also, if there is too much pressure in the system, the compressor will protect itself and not come on. This is most likely your problem.

Noise coming form engine compartment. maybe the a/c compressor clutch. a/c off and the lines are cold

ac clutch is not working fine, ac compressor is staying on even though when you turn it off, check clutch and also check freon level it migh be causing the problem

Ac compressor won't kick on

Just had the same issue and posted. Just found the solution is the control module in the dash. Went to the junk yard since new is expensive on these units. Plugged new unit in, was able to charge a/c now blows cold as ice.

2006 ford fusion ac problem

As a Ford dealer tech I found this was always caused by the AC compressor cycling switch, it shuts the compressor off when it reaches about 30 PSI, this prevents freeze up and saves fuel, when the system press rises again to about 42 PSI it turns the compressor back on and so on, change the switch, it is located in the low pressure line from the compressor, that is the one that gets cold.
