By saying: "why when its an auto" you mean an automobile or an automatic tranny? If you mean tranny...then I would say it sounds like your bands in the tranny are slipping and sometimes these are adjustable. If that's the case, I would take it to a certified tranny mechanic.

Car chugging, smells like sulfur stalls

Check your plugs, leads, coils as these will give you chugging / bunny hop under load, unburnt fuel (sulphur smell) & stall with bad misfire

2005 Neon Stalling and Jerking when driving

I don't think you really would expect someone to guess at all
those symptoms, over the internet

I will say you provided lots of things to think about

Most poeple don't even provide the make of car

Only a possible,so don't throw parts at it
Have it properly diagnosed by a repair shop

The bucking (bunny hop) could be a bad EGR Valve,
along with other issues, such as cylinder misfires as well

The gurgle is not something your hear about,so hopefully
your not low on or loosing coolant, check that & check for leaks
& make sure the heater works okey & it doesn't overheat

Hi, I have a 1985 toyota corolla ae82 engine and it has recently been in the garage for idle problems initially. I first took it in running rough and the machanic traced it to the auto choke which he...

if that 2000rpm is start up from cold,,,its still a bit high! but only a bit,,,should be nearer 1500rpm cold out of gear,,,,
when warm it should run at about 850---900rpm-----out of gear-
950rpm for an auto out of gear,,
in gear an auto will drop to about 850rpm so that the motor wont stall when holding the brakes down i would take the car back,, but they may wont it over night so they can set the revs up from cold,,i have a felling that auto choke is still playing up a bit

i had a similar prob on a clio, fault was traced to water ingress in plug on speedo drive in gearbox (water came from drain tube under scuttle panel) dried it out, waterproofed it with wd40 and packed with grease, then cleaned out and re-rooted drain tube. problem solved!

Car is shuttering

It may be time for a tune up , seems like its a misfire the easiest thing to do is to take this vehicle to an auto-zone and they will be able to put in on a computer (ITS FREE) to tell you why the light is on with that information I would be more than glad to help you further. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA

Audi TT

I am by no means a car expert. My experience is based only on past experience not just with my 2003 audi tt but other cars as well.

What you describe may be your transmission slipping. You should have it checked out asap before you need to have the flywheel cut--I had that happen on another car and it was very expensive to have repaired.

My tt also has some brake problems which cause it to stutter when I get close to a full stop.

The best of all though is the recall of our cars for replacment of the timing belt--according to my dealer a $1700 job.
