It could be a relay that keeps the fuel pump running when the ignition switch is in the run position. My jeep had this problem, where the pump gets power in the start position but once the key returns to run, the engine shortly stops running because the pressure in the fuel line drops off as it is used by the running engine, it usually died within 3 seconds. my relay was under hood and there were several of the same type in there, I switched the fuel system one with the one for my AC(which only blows hot anyway) Hope this helps...
a few questions to start have you had you vehicle battery replaced lately, or had an after market security/remote starter installed. the vats system is a very touchy system. i run into it alot at best buy. i am the senior car tech there. the second answer you read is the easiest i would just get the bypass module. what is happening is either the factory security system is "bugging out" or sometimes but rare if the resistor in the key or contact point in the tumbler is getting worn out or not making good contact throwing off the ohm reading a bit throwing the vats off. you are lucky if it was working it should engage a starter kill and cut power to the fuel pump which as i have seen happen before can just happen out of the blue. either get a vats bypass or send your computer out to someone who reprograms cumputers after mods have been done to set up the computer to eliminate the vats while your there you can also have different things changed like speed limiter spark curves tweek it for perfomance the sky is the limit but usually runs about two hundred if you have anyother questions i have been restoring and moding 3rd and 4th gens for about ten years now shot me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
