well, it was solution 1 when i commented. ...check the resistor. they are always bad and fail safe to high. cheap part and instock at most part stores. easy to replace yourself

  • j72burke Aug 06, 2009

the resistor is located in the firewall. it is on the pass. side near the strut tower. you will see a wire connector coming out from under the windshield area. two small screws hold it in. un plug the wires, remove two screws, and slide it out. get new one a any real part store (like a napa)

There is a resistor on the firewall or on the heater box that controls fan speeds this usually corrodes apart

What is an AC diode fuse? I have a 2006 AWD Pontiac Torrent the AC/Heat doesn't work, I've changed all fuses for the HAVAC and still no AC/Heat blowing out of vents. What could be the problem?

Could be a number of thing's ! Testing the electrical circuit is the way to find out what's wrong . Using a wiring diagram and a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter . Videos on youtube showing how to test it ! Without testing i would only be guessing . Does it work in high speed ? In high speed it by-passes the resistor . If it doesn't work in any speed more then likely the blower motor is the problem !
Air Speed
The HVAC control assembly applies ground to the blower motor control circuit that corresponds to the selected blower speed. The resistors and the blower motor are in a series circuit. The following list represents the number of resistors in series with the blower motor per particular speed request:
• Low speed--3 resistors
• Medium 1 speed--2 resistors
• Medium 2 speed--1 resistor
When the operator requests High speed, the HVAC control assembly applies ground directly to the blower motor through the high blower motor control circuit. The resistor card has a fusible link which, if blown, will require that the card be replaced.

New blower motor will not work on high for ac or heat

Recheck the fuses. Some GM trucks have TWO fuses for the blower. One for the High Speed and another for all the lower speeds. Refer to your owners manual for location of fuse boxes.
Good Luck

2005 jeep AC and heater blower only high speed works

check fuses, then wiggle speed control while moving, may need new dash control for lower speed, usually high speed works through relay may be the reason high speed works

AC is stuck on high on my nissan titan 2006. I have heard it may be the resistor or the control panel

The blower resister is near the blower motor, mounted on the outside of the blower box,but actually goes inside the blower box. It~s function actually is to give the blower motor lower speeds. If it is only working on high, then this is the problem. If it works on high when you select a lower speed, then there is a high blower motor relay that is stuck in the closed position .Replace the relay.

Heat/ac blower motor works on high. intermittent on other speeds.

Check the blower resistor pack - usually located in the heater air ducting in the blower fan airflow. Check for loose connections and open circuit resistors on the unit.
If speed 4 works always, its unlikely to be the blower motor ground connection.

'05 Freestyle Heater/AC blower only works on high(4). How do I get at the switch or blower motor. Everything is plastic! Does anyone have a solution? Thanks, Bob.

here is what my book says:
Blower Motor Speed Control To Remove:
  1. Remove the right lower instrument panel insulator.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor speed control.
  3. Remove the blower motor speed control mounting screws.
  4. Remove the blower motor speed control.
