At the bottom of the headlight where it sits on the bumper you will have to push down on the bumper as the headlight gets caught on the lip of the bumper, they are a bit tricky, i hope this helps, also there is a sprung loaded clip that you need to relase once you have wound the head light forward, you will need a long bladed screw driver it sits on the side of the headlight near the front on either headlight

How do I fix head light range control default on vw touareg

This fault is usually set because of high resistance in the headlight motors. Usually the problem occurs when the gear/rods get dirty and make it hard for the motors to move them. Sometimes the gears can strip out as well. You need to remove the headlight assemblies and inspect/clean/grease the gears and rods. In some cases, the gears and rods need replacement and you can purchase repair kits from the dealer rather than replace the entire assemblies

2004 vw touareg 2.5 tdi the oil sump was full of water and oil mix, also inlet manifold had oil and water mix.number 5 cylinder had locked up and engine would not turn,so i removed glow plugs and cranked...

Can not be water pump, because that has a vent hole to the outside, and does not at all allow access to crankcase or cylinders. Oil cooler is also unlikely because oil is under more pressure than the water, and it would not get into the cylinder.
Water in the cylinder means up high.
That means head gasket or cracked head.
You can tell with a leak down test.
You borrow the gauge from a place like Autozone, and replace the water reservoir cap with it. Over pump it, about 30 psi. And watch for leaks. If same cylinder keeps filling, then you know where the bad gasket or head crack is. Diesels often crack heads. Not hard to do, but new head is not cheap. Probably $500 for part, $400 labor.

Need to remove the passenger side headlight assembly on an "06 vw touareg?

There can be slight variations in procedure from one model to another when replacing headlights. For instance, on some models the turn signal light assembly must be removed before the headlight can be replaced. Overall, however, the procedure does not differ much from the following typical instructions.
Make sure the replacement bulb is the same type and part number as the one that is being replaced.

To Replace:
  • Remove the headlight bezel retaining screws. Remove the bezel. If necessary, disconnect the turn signal lamp wires.
  • Remove the retaining ring screws from one or both lights.
  • Remove the retaining rings.
  • Remove the light from the housing. Disconnect the wiring connector from the back of the light.
  • Push the wiring connector onto the prongs at the rear of the new light.
  • Place the new light in the headlight housing. Position it so the embossed number in the light lens is on the top.
  • Place the retaining ring over the light and install the retaining ring screws. Tighten them slightly.
  • Check the aim of the headlight and adjust it, if necessary.
  • Install the headlight bezel. Secure it with the retaining screws.
  • Connect the turn signal lamp wiring (if it was disconnected).
Hope this helps!

Need to remove headlight assembly on a 2004 Volkswagon Touareg. I can't locate the removel clip. (last step)

Once you turn the octagon screw to release the light and push it forward or out of the front of the vehicle, take a light and look to the left side if your working on the driver side or the right side if your working on the passenger side and you will see a metal tab release. Take a long flat head screw driver and press down toward the ground gently. The headlight will be released and the whole assembly comes out as it has a plug/electrical connection on the back of the assembly. I just replaced my headlights, I have a 2004 Touareg with 44,000 miles and have already gone through 2 sets of headlights. The VW dealer will want $300.00 to replace 1 side! They have lost their minds. How long have you had yours and what engine do you have? Just curious if you have had any problems? My Touareg has just needed tires, brakes, headlights. I have done the brakes as well. They want around $900.00 + for front plus about 8 for the rear. If you need anything just hollar and if you have any questions just let me know if I canhelp.
