Locating MAF on 2001 alreo

Honda's do not use a mass air flow (MAF) sensor. They use a manifold air pressure (MAP) sensor. The MAP sensor measures vacuum vs the MAF sensor measuring air flow/temperature. No real reason to clean a Honda MAP sensor. Are you having engine performance/idle problems? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My 2001 c320 sometimes ask like it will cut off and loses power for few seconds then it revs back up

This is a sign of a failing MAF (mass air flow sensor). They can be purchased at places like Auto Zone for around $175. Do you have a check engine light on? If so, have it scanned (auto parts stores will usually do this for free) and let me know what code/s they retrieve so I can better advise you.

What doe's code P0171 mean

The error code P0171 means oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a lean condition (too much oxygen in the exhaust). This causes because as follows:---
  • The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty.
  • There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor.
  • ---------
  • In the vast majority of cases, simply cleaning the MAF sensor does the trick.
  • Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary
  • Check for a dirty fuel filter and proper fuel pressure.
  • ---------
  • The MAF is located in the air intake duct work, to the left of the air filter. Look for 2 wires leading to the sensor unit from the outside to pinpoint it's exact location in the housing/duct.
This will help.Thanks.Helpmech

the MAF is usually located on the snorkel ( hose connecting the air box to the throttle body) should be closer to the air box. 4-5 wire connector. square shaped. clean with brake parts cleaner or carb cleaner, something that evaporates fast. sometimes cleaning it works but not always.not sure on the vaf. Hope this helps

Where is the intake air tempeture located

It will be either screwed into the int manifold, or inside the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. The MAF sensor will look like a box between the air filter and the engine. If its inside the MAF sensor, you must replace the whole MAF sensor.

I got a p0113 code for the mass air flow sensor on a ford sport track 2001 4.0 litre. I replaced the part but my truck will not run with the sensor plugged in. I can start it with it unplugged but when I...

1. At the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor connector, backprobe the Gray (GY) wire at terminal #6 with the key on and the MAF sensor connected. Typical voltage will be about 2-3.5v depending on temperature.

2. If the voltage is above 4.5v (which is what the code P0113 indicates) check the voltage on the Gray/Red (GY/RD) wire at terminal #1 of the MAF sensor connector. The voltage on the GY/RD should be less than about 0.1v.

3. If the GY/RD wire shows less than 0.1v and the voltage on the GY wire is above 4.5v, inspect the connections at the MAF sensor connector. If OK, replace the MAF sensor for the open Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor.

4. If the voltage on the GY/RD wire shows above 0.1v, locate and repair the high resistance between the MAF sensor and pin #91 of the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector.

5. If the voltage on the GY wire is not above 4.5v but the scanner shows -40 F on the data stream, check the voltage at pin 39 of the PCM. If the voltage at the PCM is above 4.5v, locate and repair the high resistance or open circuit in the GY wire between the PCM and MAF sensor connector
