Towing a 4x8 Uhaul behing a 2004 Honda Accord

I'm towing a 4x8 Uhaul from Miami to DC. The Uhaul will not be very heavy at all - just boxes of clothing, personal items, no furniture.

Has anyone done this? Any suggestions?

Do you have a trailer hitch installed already? If not, you will need to factor that into the cost. Take it easy on the drive, as your honda has to stop all that extra weight. You will need a lot more distance to stop, and starts will be slow also. After you check out the total cost of this (hitch, wiring, trailer rental, extra fuel, tolls, wear and tear on the Honda, check to see how much it would be to ship your items. It would make the drive much easier. I have a trailer (bigger than what you will rent) and I tow it with a large truck, but it's a whole new ball game traveling with a trailer on the interstate. The car will handle different, you can't make any quick moves to avoid that moron driver in front of you, etc. It's a rather intense experience to drive with a trailer in tow. Passing vehicles requires tons of room, and you must be very careful when changing lanes to allow others enough room when you pull back in. So, after all that, DON'T DO IT! It's risky, and the accord really shouldn't tow much of anything. The bigger trailers have brakes that work with the tow vehicle, and that is a big help, but I don't think the 4x8 has brakes. Check the website 'uship' You can take bids for moving your 'stuff' and it may not cost as much as you think . I have used this service, and think it's a good value. Good luck, and let me know what you decide, and how you make out. Safe travels!! Curt

Take your time and keep your distance from other cars and make enough stops to keep the engine and transmission from over heating. Good luck and be safe.

We have a heavy duty tow bar so what is the towing capacity

How do I find my hitch system rating? Your hitch system is comprised of three components, the Hitch that is attached to the frame of your car, the Ball Mount (drawbar) and the Hitch Ball. Each component has a rating for capacity. The LOWEST rating of the three components determines the overall rating of your complete hitch system. For instance, you can have a 3500 lb hitch and ball mount, with a 2000 lb ball. Your hitch system is limited to the 2000 lbs towing capacity. https://www.uhaul.com/Articles/Tips/33/How-To-Determine-Your-Hitch-System-Rating

Can i tow my car from a uhaul truck saftey

If you mean; Can I tow a U Haul trailer with my car, then check the towing capacity of your model from the owners handbook. The general rule is not more than 2/3rds the vehicle weight for the trailer providing the trailer is braked. ie, If the car is 2000lbs then the all up trailer shouldn't be more than around 1200.
Alternatively, if you mean towing a car behind a rented truck then you will need the appropriate approved tow dolly and the renters permission. Make sure you are fully insured and competent to carry out such a task.

Will my 2004 heavy duty 3/4 ton with a cummins diesel engine, 6 speed standard transmission tow a travel trailer that weighs 14,000 lbs???

The maximum towing capacity of 13,750 and you should not exceed what the manufacturer recommends as you can cause serious harm to your vehicle, yourself, and / or others.

When considering the maximum towing capacity, you also have to consider passenger weight, luggage, etc as all this will reduce the overall capacity... I.e. if you've got 1000lbs in the trunk and 3 passengers plus the driver, your capacity has already dropped to around 12,000

Ford f-150 brake light and blinker problems (from towing)

Check the fuse box located in the cab down by the drivers left knee. check all the fuses there, also consult your manual and check the fuse for the brake/tail lights. This sounds like a fuse problem more than anything. Thanks for using fixya! Good luck!
