starters are normally located at the rear of the motor usually hard to get too or see. should be on your bell housing in other words just in front of the gearbox/clutch

SOURCE: 2002 Grand Vitara engine light

Try these easy things...take off clean and reconnect the battery cables, take to Auto Zone for a FREE computer hook up. More than likely if the battery hook up doesn't work it's the oxygen sensor.

Will a blocked cat increase my fuel consumtion

Yes it will. Your having to depress the fuel pedal more and force more fuel into the engine. Eventually the engine will just stop running because the exhaust cannot get out.

Suzuki Grand Vitara 2007 - Efficiency low on bank 1 engine light. is it just the sensor or do i need a new cat? is this common?

Is the code P420 ? Is there an exhaust leak in front of cat? If not you need a new cat. Recommend one from Suzuki. cheap ones don't last more than a year or so. If it was a sensor you would have a different code. Can only be bad cat or exhaust leak before cat allowing fresh air to be pulled in.

Engine running very rich. Plugs black. Suzuki Vitara

This could be a number of things, fisrt of all if you have had your light reset by someone with a scan tool then they should be able to down load any problems that is stored in the computer. Second is it the engine check light that is coming on or the CAT converter light telling you the temp is to high which will happen if its running to rich and travling a short distance there after.

The check engine light came on for my 2002 suzuki vitara. The diagnostic code showed PO420 CAT below efficiency. The vehicle is 82,000 miles. How much does it cost for parts and labor? Thanks

420 is O2 sensor, this can happen from putting the wrong replacement sparkplugs in or just age of vehicle this just happened to my suzuki vitara so i replaced the plugs ($18) and the code hasnt come up again yet. if it does come up again ill do the sensor ($180). prices indicated are do it yourself prices

Catalyst system efficiency below threshhold bank 2

before replacing cat converter replace o2 sensors, they go bad and give a false reading that cat efficiency is below threshold ,meaning converter is no good , i would replace o2 sensors and reset engine light and go from there, the o2 s are normaly the problem, unless you hear cat rattling, well good luck,

Suzuki grand vitara fault code

I guess you have an HDI engine (possibly RHZ) as this fault is very common on that model. Quite possibly it will just disappear. It is not likely to be the turbo. Swap the electrovalve (pneumatic solenoid) which controls the turbo with one of the others (there are three beside each other on the inside of the wing, and see what happens. If the fault moves elsewhere that confirms electrovalve fault - so replace valve it.
If not check the vacuum hoses and test things such as the EGR for vacuum leaks. Another possibility is a faulty (or even just dirty) MAF. This is very easy to remove- it is on air intake - so remove and clean with wWD40 or similar.
