Use a bottle of Bars Head Gasket Stop-Leak. Only use the stuff with the beads in it. Also use 50/50 water/coolant mixture.
Also a change in the thermostat and a 5w 30 or synthetic oil

2000 Mazda 626 , was overheating, white smoke from exhaust, losing coolant. Should mechanic checked head gasket before installing water pump & component kit

Yes, if there's white smoke coming out the exhaust the engne is burning coolant it has to get into the combustion chamber via a broken head gasket, a cracked head or a cracked block. A simple leak down test will identify the problem cylinder. I hope this helps. Take care.

Coolant and oil leak

have a compression test done as the bubbles suggest a blown head gasket or cracks. That will account for the overheating. The oil leak may be from the head gasket or cracks.

Engine shut off and overheated while driving

since the engine is overheated and died whilst in motion, surely you have either blown head gasket or a cracked cylinder head and pistons marked the liners, In other words the engine might need recondition.

How would i know if my overheating problem in my 97 Geo Metro Prizm is a radiator, water pump, blown head gasket, cracked head or a thermostat problem. is there some way i can check for this?

Oil and coolant mixed usually means the engine is damaged.
Blown head gasket, or cracked block - head.
You may have coolant in the engine oil too.
I would not drive it.

Whoever told you you have a blown head gasket or a cracked hed is going in the right direccion. If you have replace all of the above and your car still overheating its almost sure that you will have to replace at least the head gasket. worst case scenario will be a cracked block. Take it somewhere where they check head gasket failures and They will tell you for sure.

Water in the oil leaks out below manifold do I have a blown head gasket and do those V-6 engines crack heads easily?

Most likely it's a blown head gasket. The heads dont usually crack unless you were driving it a lot while it was overheating.
