Question about Mercedes-Benz C-Class

2 Answers

Revolution Mercedes, who I trusted my car repair to, faliled to recognize bad or improper installation of my serpentine belt. The problem caused my battery to loose charge, which put my car alarm into a frantic. Not until the belt ripped to shreds and another mechanic had to be called is when I realized Revolution was very negligent. Once I informed them of what happened Tammy the big front desk person did not say I aologize or I am sorry it happened to you. She and Matt could probbably care less. The services they performed on my car was a compressor, a service A and a service B along with brake installation. I would like to know a honest mechanic that I can take my car to for service, they don't have to like me just my car.

I am the owner of Revolution and just found this post. First, both Tammy and I are very sorry if we made you feel we didn't care, but neither can remember the exact circumstances of this problem. If I have done my research correctly the A/C compressor was installed over 15,000 miles before the belt failure. We did however perform a service which should have included inspection of the serpentine belt about a month before the initial post in this thread. I cannot say what if anything was missed as I do not know what actually failed. In response to dogit - This car has a spring loaded belt tensioner with no tightening or adjustments possible -hopefully no one is letting you work on their MercedesBenz. Again, I am sorry if we made you feel that we did not care. We pride ourselves on treating every customer with the respect we give our own mothers, and in that we may have failed this time.

They should pay for your belt. Cheaning the compressor but didn't know where the tension belt adjustment to tighten the belt, and didn't know where the lock nut is to lock the tension in the place. They are in two different places. Ask a mechanic if thay knoe where are they, then you can trust them. If they don't know , then don't let them touch your car since you end up paying for the tension unit and the labor is also expensive. Good luck

Why is the indicator ac light blinking?

What kind of vehicle? It means have your ac inspected. On Toyotas, It is a fail-safe mechanism. The compressor speed and the engine speed are not in unison. So the magnetic clutch dissengages so the compressor doesn't lock down. This can be caused by the serpentine belt slipping, or the magnetic ac clutch relay in the fuse box, or the ac revolution sensor on the side of the compressor. It could also indicate that the compressor itself is going bad. More than likely it the revolution sensor going bad or it is low on compressor oil and freon

My son has a serpentine belt broken that was installed 2 weeks ago.

Sounds like a defective belt, an improper install, or a bad pulley which is causing wear. Was this belt installed because the last one broke or because it was time to change it?

Check the underside of your hood for a belt diagram. If it's not there, call your dealer with your VIN number to get the correct diagram.
