Question about 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

94 Jeep Grand Cherokee diagram panel flashes on the "miles to service" message, clock won't stay set. I suspect that at some point my husband disconnected the battery, and the system needs to be reset - but there aren't any instructions for this. Additionally, the security alarm clicks while the door is open, and car is off.Shuts off once you close the door. I don't use the key system, Jeep wanted over $75 to put in a new battery & reset, so I've long since lost it. There must be some series of actions somewhere (hit the brake twice, turn the key once, open & shut door, hit brake 3x again) that resets that diagram/clock panel.

That would be the way you change the time & date. My panel is blinking. Pressing and holding the "set" button changes the screen to "Language", with no selection or change available. Pressing and holding both buttons, brings up some kind of vehicle system display which lasts 15 secs or less then goes away. The panel blinking "900 miles to service" and not allowing the time to be set, or if so, keeping the time set does not have anything to do with the security alarm "clicking" when the door is open. Shortly after getting the jeep (99) we did some type of reset that required us to turn the key (I think) and pump the break 3x. But this isn't doing anything. I'm not looking to change the clock. I need to reset the system so that I can set the clock.

There are two buttons on the diagram panel screen, push and hold top button and a one of the entries will start to blink, then you use the bottom button to change the entry, when you are ready to move to the next entry push the top button again.

Why is there a beeping noise every 5 minutes or so while driving-

AS LONG AS YOUR CAR IS RUNNING FINE & HAS BEEN SERVICED RECENTLY YOU CAN ALTER THIS MESSAGE ON SCREEN TO STOP THE BEEPING, THE EASIEST WAY IS TO DISCONNECT BOTH THE + & - BATTERY LEADS & CONNECT THEM TOGETHER FOR AT LEAST 30 MINS, THIS WILL RESET THE JEEP'S MEMORY, CONNECT BACK THE LEADS & THEN WHEN YOU GET IN & START YOUR CAR THE DISPLAY BY THE GEARSHIFT WILL BE FLASHING - SET THE CLOCK BY KEEPING YOUR FINGER ON THE SET BUTTON FOR S FEW SECONDS UNTIL THE IST DIGIT BEGINS TO FLASH, THEN PRESS THE SET BUTTON UNTIL YOU REACH THE DESIRED HOUR, THEN PRESS THE SELECT BUTTON BELOW & THIS WILL MOVE YOU ON TO THE MINUTES, CONTINUE WITH THE ABOVE OPERATION UNTIL THE TIME & DATE HAVE BEEN SET, YOUR "SERVICE" SHOULD NOW BE RESET TO EITHER 7500 MILES OR 12500 MILES, I SERVICE MY 96 GRAND CHEROKEE MYSELF SO THIS IS MY "CHEAT" FOR THE SYSTEM & IT IS GUARANTEED TO WORK. BEST OF LUCK.

94 grand cherokee cutsoff going down the road then won't start until it sets for a while

When it won't start someone will need to find out if you are dealing with a no-spark or no-fuel problem to proceed.
If the check engine light is on you should get the computer scanned for trouble codes.

pull the relay for the daytime running lights if they go out, then your relay is stuck in the connect position.

94 Jeep wont start running after 3 seconds.

It could be the security system or maybe a crank sensor.

95 Grand Cherokee center column data screen resets after shut off

I had the same problem with my 1995 grand cherokee. I had to remove the message center and resolder the connections where the plugs go into the back of it. Not hard to do if you are used to soldering small connections, if not, take it out and bring it to someone who is, like a tv repair shop.
