Question about 1993 Subaru Legacy

Open Question

1993 Subaru Legacy ignition will not shut off.

1993 Subaru Legacy, 2WD, auto. Will work fine for 2 or 3 weeks then acts up. Randonly, when you turn the key off, the engine will not shut off. I have had both the mechanical and electrical units of the key switch replaced and had the transmission swapped out for the internal clutches slipping. Neutral safety switch was replaced when transmission was swapped. Mechanic said shifter alignment was good. Had random problem before and after transmission change out. In order to get ignition to shut down, I either turn key switch on/off several times or shift transmission from park to another gear, then it will eventually turn off. Can't really determine what makes it stop. Any help is appreciated.

I have a 92 subaru legacy and the park lights stay on when the ignition is off, and the key is hard to turn.

Your ignition switch is faulty and needs replacement this is why the power stays on to power up the lights!

Sounds like a fuel delivery problem. I would start checking there.

A tune up before you try to trouble shoot is recommended also.

My subaru will not start. The starter is not reacting when I turn the ignition. It is a '93 legacy wagon. I have checked all the fuses. I have checked the clutch starter switch. I checked it by bypassing...

Did you check the wiring going to the starter,Have a friend turn the key to start and see if you are getting poer to solenoid at that time,If not start working backwards to the starter relay, and finally to the ignition switch. You can check the codes by using a jumper wire under the hood on the passenger inner fender area there is a empty female connector,You should buy one of the Haynes books at Autozone for your car,It would help you alot. The last 10 to 15 pages are wiring diagrams,of lights, charging, starting.
