Hi John.
Same car so qualified to help.
By 'nearside', do you mean the roll-up widow in the rear door, or the triangular "Quarterlight" pane in the rear side bodywork?
For the quarterlight, remove interior trim by levering and pulling firmly on trim, which is clipped into bodywork interior with plastic studs. Then unscrew now-exposed hex nuts which hold metal window frame to bodywork. push frame-bolts outwards then loosen silicone-stuck glass. Reverse the process to assemble.

You need to have your seal replaced. I would recommend installing new bearing while you're at it. Check here: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalog/parts/partsShelf.jsp?displayName=Differential+Seal+-+Rear¤tPage=1&categoryDisplayName=Drivetrain&navValue=11201715&itemId=1715-0&parentId=12-0
