The compressor motor has a starter capacitor, and usually also an oferload capacitor. One of the capacitors is probably gone.
Be careful, because a capacacitor may hold charge for a long time, even if disconnected. Capacitors must be discharged shorting their terminals to avoid risk of electric shock.

2001 chevy ventura compessor wont run

1. check your a/c fuse to make sure it is good.
2. locate the a/c low pressure switch (should be on top of
the a/c dryer. disconnect it from the dryer and by-pass the
switch with a jumper wire while the car engine is on. if this
makes the a/c compressor come on then quickly disconnect
the by-pass wire to keep from damaging the a/c compressor
(because you are low on freon and the low-pressure switch
turned your compressor off to keep it from getting damaged).

No current to ac compressor

A mechanic would start at the compressor and work back.
Did you jumper the low pressure switch, or the relay, or put power directly to the ac clutch ?
You have a low pressure switch that should be closed and a high pressure switch that should be closed to put power to the compressor clutch. If the freon pressure drops below 20psi the low switch opens, if it goes above 300 psi the high switch opens.

When I remove the a/c relay and jumper the connection my a/c compressor clutch kicks in. When I removed this jumper the compressor will not engage. Is there a sensor or a switch located that controls this....

May have a bad low pressure/cycling switch. Its a two wire switch and normally found on the dryer/accumulator. You can unplug that wire and jumper it. If the clutch kicks on then either the system is too low on refrigerant to activate the switch or the switch is bad.
That switch can be replaced without loss of refrigerant because there is (or supposed to be) a shrader valve in the dryer.

Replaced the ac compressor but now no power to compressor but have power to low and high pressure switches. checked relay under hood, relay and fuse in cabin. what am i missing?

Put a jump wire in the high pressure switch plug. If the compressor works. replace the high pressure switch. Let me know and we can go from there.

Why will the AC of my Town and Country not engage?

could be low of freon ,most cars has a pressure switch so when the system has a leak and loses presure under the rated pressure of the switch it shut it off...it is located on the dryer it will be a 2 wire plug type set up, unplug the ele. plug side momentary and jump it with a jumper wire and see if you hear the compressor clutch kick in if so either the switch is bad or your system has loss freon. could be also something as simple as a blower fuse or relay too ,last but not lest the compressor clutch couldv'e gone bad. to ck that if you are getting fire at that pressure switch and down to the compressor then the clutch is bad or compressor as a whole has locked up but that would make it either throw a belt or burn it off.

take the pressure switch connector off and jump connector- if clutch engauges you either have bad low pressure switch or are low on freon.

No power for AC compressor

try removing the plug off the low pressure switch on the accumalator plug a paper clip into the plug and turn ac on if it comes on then your low pressure switch is bad or your low on refigerant.

Change a new air compressor but doesn't work

if you have no power the the clutch on the compressor check the low pressure switch on the receiver dryer if you have power there take a jumper wire and put it between the two wires in the female switch you should hear a click and the compressor will run dont let it run to long because you`ll need to find out if the low pressure switch is bad or if you do not have enough freon in the system.
