Question about 1996 Toyota Camry
The check engine light periodically coming (even if i neutralize it by disconnecting the battery terminal). I notice, if i pump and release the accelerator pedel frequently while on move, the check engine light is not coming but even then I feel loss of power. If the cruse is set on, after 10 minutes the check engine lights up. I changed the EGR valve and EGR sensor and clean the air passages but still the light is on.... Please help me, I am worried!!!

My 2000 Camry did the same thing. Behind the EGR valve on the firewall, there is a EGR valve assist switch. (About $80 from Toyota) This fixed my problem.

First did you reset the computer after replacing the EGR valve if you don't the computer doe'nt reconize the new sensor so it doe'nt reset the peremiters. Then check all passages and lines in the intake manifold there could be a clogg somewhere.Go to www.rockauto.com and you'll find EGR pressure sensor for under $30.00.

after time the passages plug up with carbon remove the vale start the engine on one port there should be vacuum and the other side should have exhaust blowing out with a coat hanger sized wire run it threw the plugged passage til cleared out also look at the valve to see if it is plugged as well if both passages are clear and the code returns you might need to replace the valve
