It is wise to remove the pump with the crank set to a known timing position so the crank can be returned to that position in order to refit the pump.
Failure to use that procedure will mean it is necessary to obtain a repair manual and follow the timing instructions.

fuel tank has to be removed to remove fuel pump sender unit. make sure tank is near empty so its not as heavy to remove
some models have two round rings on top of tank, one is sender unit (for gauge) the other incorporates the fuel pump
others have one round ring which is both in one
remove the one near middle section of tank
be carefull not to bend float arm for sender unit if twin type (sender & fuel pump in one)

the only timing mark are on timing belt newer cars dont use a timing light because it is electronic and fixed
