Unsure what you mean you need starter fluid. If you are leaking antifreeze out of your car it sounds like you may have a blown head gasket especially if it is over heating but it could also be leaking out of the front of your water pump or maybe a hole in one of your heater hoses. You need to try and find where the leak is.

Sometimes it starts good and sometimes won't start

If starter doesn't spin everytime. Clean battery terminals and a connection. Check connection at starter. Try putting into neutral to start. If starter still doesn't turn car over everytime. Probably starter solenoid. If starter spins every time and doesn't start check temperature sensor. My car once started only when sitting for a couple of hours. Because sensor was saying it was really cold and it would flood it. Had to push gas peddle to floor and hold it there until started. If that is the case change temperature sensor. If car is after mid 90s take and get it scanned.

Where the hell is the water pump on my 94 jetta??? i need to replace the thermostat and apparently the housing is under the water pump... im not an idiot by far but VW has the worst designs ever!

The engines fliud containers are situated within from section. For example, the most observable fiuld compartment in engine is antifreeze chanber from where every tube connections derives fliuds for circulatiion. Observ within the engine, trance through the fluid tubes until arriving at pump very observable in features unique from fiuld containers.

Lights work, horn blows, ignition lights work, but key will not start the car. we've had starter and selinoid checked all is good

check the relays and fuses in the car, like the fuel pump relay, starter relay, all of the types of relays that are needed for the car to start. Although if the engine is turning over, then it is not the starter relay, then you would have to check if you have spark or if you are getting fuel. You can check if you are getting fuel by spraying starter fiuld into the intake, after doing so try to start the car, if the car starts then you are not getting fuel.

Installed new battery, still won't start...won't even turn over. Tested the curcuits and there is current?????

hi, if when you turn the key the engine dont even turn over then this is a good indication that the starter motor needs replacing.
If the car has manual gear box you could try putting it in 2nd gear then get some one to help push the car so that the engine turns this way slightly then try starting this sometimes gets it started also you could try hitting the starter motor with a hammer this may also get it started.
First check all fuses and replace any that are blown then try again if still no joy then check the wires going to the starter motor are secure if they are then its a good chance it needs replacing.

If you have a manual box then you could put the car in 2nd gear with the igniton switched on then get someone to give you a good push or tow you down the road, keep the clutch pushed to the floor untill you have got moving quite quick then release the clutch this should then turn the engine over and fire the engine up then the car will be running, this in its self may free up the starter motor allowing it to start but be warned it will happen again so get it replaced sooner rather that later.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok.

If you have an auto box then make sure the shifter is in right place move it all the way up and down a few times then give it another try as sometimes if its slightly out of line it wont engage the starter motor.
