That ticking noise means the relay is working so you should hit the starter with some heavy metal pipe, tool or anything a couple of hits should work then try to start it if the car start or make a different sound you will need to replace the starter

i have a 1996 grand caravan, and i have the problem of alarm going off too. I also do not have a keychain to turn it off. All you have to do is unlock the driver door or passenger door with a regular key, and that stops the alarm.

you can try the brake light switch.. it is located under dash ..follow the brake pedal up you will see a switch ... unplug wires and use a paper clip or piece of wire to to jump... if brake light comes on replace switch.....

check/replace the starter relay switch in the relay box under the hood. The relay box is located on the front right of the engine compartment. easy fix, inexpensive part if that is the problem.

Then the next thing to check is the starter itself, are you hearing any popping noises from the base of the motor? The starter should not be hard to change. Once you pull it out you can take it to the autozone and they can test it for you. The starter solenoid may be bad also, but these are normally attached to the starter. Check starter relay fuse and fuel pump fuse inside under hood fuse box. Take out those 2 fuses (they are the same size) and bend the 4 tabs outward a little bit, then re-insert. This will help the fuse prongs make contact inside fuse box.
