did you lock the doors first? If the car has a check engine light on the remote start will not work. The computer will not allow autostart if there are check engine problems.

Sometimes this can be caused if you are not using a "chip key" if one is required by your car. If you had a copy of your key made and it was not programmed the car would disable itself after three seconds of attempting to drive the car without the proper key (antitheft feature). If that's the case a properly programmed key will automatically work and no reset is normally required.
In an extremely rare case a programmed chip key can fail and you will get the same symptoms.

i have a viper alarm on my car with remote start. it has a setting where i can choose how long my car runs after it is started. you might check to see if yours has this setting as well. if not it could be a faulty remote

More good news: All that is wrong with your car are the tiny wires coming off the distributor. They have broken into from years of vibration. They look fine for the insulation is intact. (Once the car starts, it switches from battery power to altenater power). Repair the wires and your car will run.

sounds like your factory alarm is not working with the remote starter. it happens a lot with the new cars. check the BCM that runs the factory alarm.
