SOURCE: my trunk switch from inside wont open trunk
Yes, it has a fuse but I do not have a diagram unfortunately. Or it could be your indicator switch on the inside driver's side of the trunk. The remote will not work if the trunk is already open OR if the switch is bad/not contacting the stopper (at the base of the trunk) and falsley telling the PCM that the trunk is ajar. But if this were the problem, your should be getting a warning that your "trunk is ajar" from the onboard warning display on the guage cluster. The switch is cheesy...had to replace mine.
SOURCE: Trunk will not open
did you get this problem solved?? i had the same issue, but solved it.
if you did not solve the problem, this is how...
insert the key into the trunk key hole
turn the key to the left and push the key
at the same time, lift the trunk while the key is pushed in and to the left
hope this helps
normally, you just turn the key to the right on most cars - i guess the folks who built audi a8's are left handed.

There is a small yellow rocker switch inside the glove box that locks a potential thief out of the trunk if he breaks into the cabin. Hit that switch in the other direction and it's fixed.
SOURCE: can't open trunk with remote control. When unlock,
2007 then to re programme key it needs dealer software diagnostic machine ,if this is the problem but i think the problem is the operating solonoid in the boot ,i think it may be stuck or sticking ,locking but not releasing and if this is the case then remove the panel and oil the rod on top of the operating mechanism with engine oil so it soaks down into the solonoid and after a couple of days it should free its self up .
