Question about 1995 Buick Park Avenue

1 Answer

I have a 1995 Buick Park Avenue and over the last few months I noticed that the engine would rev-up and rev-down while driving down the road at times. After a few seconds it would usually stop and return to running normal. Last night as I was driving home from work it started acting funny again and continued all the way home. When I stopped at stoplights, I had to floor the accelerator to get it to move. When I woke this morning and went to start it, it would start then immediately die. Is anyone able to pinpoint the issue based on these symptoms? I have no way to get to a parts store to diagnose it. I will try the old paper clip trick eventually, but I was just wondering if someone had some insight?

I don't know what ICM stands for but I was having exactly the same problem with my '95 Park Avenue and it turned out to be the main computer brain (the plain metal box tucked up under the dash on the passenger side). Sounds like you might very well be having the same issue.

1994 buick park avenue, idling up and will not idle down

If it's not sticking throttle linkage, and i assume it isn't because you have an engine light on, it's probably a faulty idle control sensor. You can get one at any parts store, and they aren't hard to remove and replace. The parts guy can show you exactly where it is on his screen.
