Be sure to purchase the correct coolant/ antifreeze before starting.
Make sure the engine is cold ( has not run in atleast 2 hours ) raise the left front side of car, remove the plastic shield the runs across the whole bottom.Once removed you will see the drain nut on the drivers side. Using a 19mm wrench ( put a drain pan under car,and you should have safety glass on ) loosen the nut a couple of turns, then go to the top and remove the cap on the coolant resevoir. Finish the lower nut, when the coolant stops the fast flow, tighten the nut hand tight, then a small amount more of tightness with the wrench, ( do not over tighten or it will break and cost you an extra estimated $ 400.00 to replace the rad ).Install the plastic shield, lower car, pour a 50/50 mixture ( mix ahead of time ) of coolant and water into the tank until the level reaches and stays at the full mark, reinstall the cap and start the engine. Stay in the car and watch the temp. gauge, if it rises to the red/ hot area shut the car off and let it cool completely ( atleast 1-2 hours ) then remove the cap and top up the tank. should be good after that, but run again to make sure.

2001 ford taurus that wont start. I am getting fuel pressure. I installed new plugs, wires, and coil pack. There is pressure in the radiator fill tank just from trying to start the car. Is that norma

Take off the radiator fill cap.
Top off the radiator.
Crank the engine.

Are there bubbles or is there water spouting out of the radiator fill hole?

Yes: likely cylinder head gasket failure or cracked header.

No: Pressure test cooling system after topping off with a pressure tester. Locate source of leak.

Assuming the water leak isn't anything to do with the non-starting situation, which it probably is though form the sound of it, also check the following:

1) Air filter
2) Fuel filter
3) Manifold Air Pressure sensor.
4) Mass Air Flow sensor.

Can you use a prestone flush and fill kit without opening the radiator drain **** or removing hoses?

No, the flush kit is mounted on the heater hose and you need to drain the system. Removing the lower radiator hose and termostat is the best method for flushing draining the coolant system.

My friend went me to flush the radiator, wheres the drain plug and fill cap

there may not be a drain plug, the best way to flush the radiator is to take the bottom hose off the radiator & flush it that way, the filler cap should be on the top of the radiator......hope this helps.....cheers

Where do you fill radiator on 02 taurus ses? my husband is changing the thermostat, drained the radiator and says there is no radiator cap, just a reserve tank and cap - does he fill it through the...

YES. But dont overfill it. Slowly add coolant to the low full line and let it run a while, like 10 minutes. if the level goes down fill it to the full line. After it cools for 30 minutes recheck the level and add as needed.

Runnig hot

Cheap trial repairs.... With the engine cool.....
Pull the thermostat from the top of the engine block - at the point where the top radiator hose connects. Restore the hose connection and try running the car to see what the temp does. If this is the problem, the engine will run cold all of the time. (you should install a new thermostat).

If not the problem, on a cool engine, drain the radiator and insert radiator cleaner. refill with water and run for a few days. Drain and then flush with hose until water runs clear. Fill with 1 gal of antifreeze and the rest water.
