If the speed sensor is for an Anti-lock braking issue, you will normally find 1 at each wheel (accessible when the wheel is removed). Another location would be on the transmission.

Make sure the ****** fluid is full, if fluid is full the next step would be to have the computer scanned for any codes. there are many auto part stores that will scan for free. the reason for scanning is that it may be something like a speed senor or input sensor problem which is something you can do, if its internal then you will need a ****** shop to look at andf maybe rebuild. these trannys are junk, sorry to say.

How many O2 Senors does my van 1998 Winstar 3.0

get the code, the 02's most likely have nothing to do with this problem. The 02's purpose is to tell the PCM you have a fueling issue or misfire issue. The fact that the light is flashing tells me you have a misfire going on and they are doing thier job. Why pay 100 bucks for a part that wont fix this when you can pay someone 100 buck to tell you what your problem is.

The speed sensor is located on the transmission. Here is a picture of what it is that you are looking for: 74b47c0.jpg
That should help you find it and it's pretty easy to change out. Let me know if you have any further questions but know you know what you are looking for. Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!
